The "Great Shopping Center" on the corner of 5th Avenue and 15th Street was Germain's (you can make out the ..ain's), sort of a notch up from a 5 & 10 cent store (of which there were two, Woolworth's and Kresge's, on opposite corners of 5th Avenue and 10th Street). They sold great freshly-made hot waffles with a slice of Neopolitan ice cream between two - they were wonderful - the whold main floor smelled of them, so it difficult not to succumb! They had a Santa every Christmas(like Macy's)that children could visit and have your picture taken with. My mother brought my sister and I every year for a while. They also had a counter just for doll's clothes and I would come with my allowance clutched in my small fist to buy new outfits for my dolls. I loved that store! -

Opposite corners doesnt clear up for those of us like me that couldnt remember exact locations. Which was on Which corner? Anthonys post clears up that there was a Woolworths as well as a Kresges. Have ya ever remembered a movie...and couldnt think of an actors or actresses name that was in the movie? and then...BAM...in the middle of the night it comes to ya. If ya can't understand this feeling then I can see how that post can clear that up. But not for me. Am i gonna lose sleep over it? no way! but...it's nice...in my opinion to get people, and myself, to think and try to remember these simple things from days gone by. O and I know...I can IMDB a movie and find out exactly who was in a particular movie.
-
I know there are some old timers on here that read along and maybe some that arent old timers that have yet to post. PLEASE...lol...IF you remember...make a simple post...no great details needed...help a fella out over here. and thanks to all for bearin with my antics. ya can't make everyone happy all the time.

Thanks Anthony and Jimbo. I'm glad YOU came up with the Grayshells thing Anthony 'cause that was ANOTHER question I had. And no...NO books bein written here Terry...havent ya noticed my writing style or lack of? It would cost me a FORTUNE in editing...then again, I have someone that would do it for me for free. but even with that in mind...NO books...believe it or not...I don't like writing stuff out 'cause I feel I'm not able to effectively get my thoughts across without bein face to face with someone. For me, this place is about memories...ya'all just keep on bloggin and i'll pop in now and again with a memory to annoy u's guys...Hi Festina ANGELINA!!
-
HOLY FRIJOLE!!! who cares about the spellin! THANK YOU JIMBO!! THIS is what this blog means to ME. Jimbo didnt hafta do that but wow...man O man I appreciate it. reminds me of the good old days when people actually cared when they asked.."how are ya?"
