Embarassingly, haven't bought one in ages, just checked Google and am overwhelmed by the choices and price ranges.

  • like nwhat?

Like ewahgt u mean ,like phone cimpany or like phone that you hoild it and it talks?
  • Several of my friends dropped their landlines within the last few years and only have cell phones, so the last time I needed a landline phone, I got to test a few freebies. Go cordless and the less buttons the better (I don't need 10 button choices when I just want to pick up a landline and make a quick simple call). Some of these landline phone producers are trying to compete with cell phones that have many features and end up producing stupid landline phones that can do everything but make a phone call.
  • I've just got to have my land line. As for phones, buy sturdy as possible
the less buttons the better is true. Now, cordless is a nice option but
I'd get both. Even the best of the cordless often fade in and out and you
get that underwater type effect so I would elect to get both so when the
person you're speaking with tells you the connection is dying you can
pick up your other phone as a standby. Just my opinion as I have both.
The phones they make today are nothing near what you used to get
through the phone companies. Hell, you could drop, throw and abuse
you phone and it didn't break. I went on line to find an older touch tone
phone from the olden days just because of that, found one and I'm a
happy camper. It's been dropped, knocked over by the animals and
    it's still happy to work!
  • Get a standard AT&T 210 trimline phone tha twill operate with only the power through the telephone line.

Then get a decent multi station cordless phone with DECT 6.0 which offers the highest level of encryption. I've had good luck with both Panasonic and AT&T brands. Get the one that feels the most comfortable in your hand

Why is it embarrassing to not have a home phone? We haven't had one in nearly 10 years and it is a wonderful thing to not throw money down that pit.
  • A landline? How 2003.
