Hi Warren and Everyone:
While I still feel that I have very little to add to the blog, I just wanted you to know that Carol & I are still alive and keeping as well as possible. Had a scare a few weeks ago but further testing on Carol indicated that the initial test that shook us up was NOT an indicator of recurrance of Colon Cancer. Tests are not infallable (SP) and more extensive testing is many times necessary to eliminate worry and un-necessary treatments.
With a little questioning on another blog I found out that the construction on 13th St & 3rd Aves. is indeed a Hotel being built. This would be ideal for us. While the LeBleu was convenient this new place is right down the block from my 94 year old Mother in law who lives on 13th St just below 4th Ave.
Congratulations on cleaning up some of the language that was very prevelent a few months ago! While it is not my place to censor or edit I feel a lot more comfortable making an entry then I did a while back.

Glad to see you back. There is a place for all of us on the board. That's what I figure. Just ignore what you don't like. I didn't want to let a few people chase me off the board. I too feel better. Everyone is entitled to say what they want and everyone has the right to ignore it too. Anyway, glad Carol is o.k. It must have been very scarey. I had my first colonoscopy on Monday. OMG! Test was a breeze and results were excellent, but I got as sick as a dog from the prep. I had to take that citus magnesium plus the pills. It was horrible. Felt like I had the flu. Just wanted to be put under and get it over with. Hope I don't deter anyone from getting the test. That was just my experience. Dr. said see you back in 5 years. SURE! Only if they come up with a better prep!!!!!! -

b]Hello to All....
Glad most things are ok; and for those who are having hard times,
I'm 'in touch' personally, beyond this blog.
Happy to see you Warren and hear the good news. May God
continue to bless you both!

-- Anyway my friends... I usually don't get involved with the little
'discussions' that come about here, as I choose my battles these
days, and where I put my energy. But I do want to add my two cents
REGARDING THE RECIPE 'SAGA'
All my comments made with positive intentions.....
--> I don't think anyone is lurking behind the scenes trying to steal
recipes
--> I am sure there are many people reading behind the scenes
who have their own wonderful family recipes
--> It would be a shame if people stopped posting recipes here.
From the first day of the original blog - it's often beenu] about
food.. Who is cooking what? Who needs a recipe idea? Who prefers
stuffing balls to stuffing the turkey?
(LOL Suzie, had to get that example in there).
CASE IN POINT: HOW will you get through Thanksgiving without
sharing; and/or worse - sneaking around sharing recipes. LOL
There is passion in these pages when food is discussed, recipes
shared, and succes stories 'documented' - and the enjoyment shared
among the rest of the bloggers.
(Carol's food has been my screen saver for three days now..)
Food is so much apart of our heritage, no matter what our nationality -
and
some of the best food came from our neighborhood. So why not
continue with something that has brought so much joy to most
here (Yes, my assumption).....
at the risk of someone behind the scenes making a buck
on Festina's broccoli rabe recipe.
.(Whoever you are, I'm available if you need a co-author LOL)
Let's be thankful we have food to eat!
ONE FINAL COMMENT....
I initiated this "recipe effort" last year, my original post is below.
I will pass off the few recipes I have, to whoever wants to take over.
As Paul mentioned, it can be lots of work. (The task was met with
very little enthusiasm and response.)[/b]

ANOTHER TRIBUTE TO PARK SLOPE AND OUR HERITAGE....
I've been thinking about this for a long time. And every time I see
food mentioned on this site - it makes me say 'i have to do it.'
And maybe because I just made a big pot of gravy with
50 meatballs, pork bones, sausages, etc...
(TERRY, I ate too much gravy bread and fried meatballs.)
Back to point -
I would love to pull together a 'book' of recipes from our
neighborhood.
We have such a great heritage, wonderful 'cooks' in our
families, and great traditions that have been passed down.
So many of you are exceptional 'chefs' ---- you know who
you are.. We'd all appreciate having this resource and memory.
So why not share a recipe, and tell a little story about your
grandma who brought her Pasta Badan recipe from Naples.
What a masterpiece this can be - celebrating our diversity and
all the great foods of our past and present.
My grandmother lived across the street from us on 20th St in
a six-family house. There were Italian, Puerto Rican and Irish
families happily co-existing in the same building. Smell the
aroma of the different foods...
Celebrate the richness of our cultures.
Let's document it, share it - and keep it alive!!!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ciao my friends..... Enjoy the rest of your evening.... LOL
I accidently wrote 'enjoy the rest of your FOOD' and had to edit...
No personal attacks meant here for anyone - just had a
need to share my thoughts.
God bless,
F
