Noisy Neighbors — Brooklynian

Noisy Neighbors

Is there anyone reading this who is fed up with the screaming kids on Stratford Rd (Ditmas & Cortelyou)? Appreciate advise if anyone has similar problem. It's been a rare day; any season, for 3 years, that up to 9 young kids use the street and sidewalk like a playground for 6 to 8 continuous hours every day up until 2 AM.

  • Thanks, Modsquad. Violence not an option; though I've sinned in my heart. Why are kids so sacrosacnt these days?
  • What are any very young kids doing out running around at 2AM?? Where are these parents?

Imagine what it'll be like when they become teenagers.
  • Either way, gather a group of neighbors that feel the same way you do, and/or call the police. Hmm kids? They may respond by rebelling towards you verbally or physically. I hope neither. Or they may very well realize their actions after you confront them, apologize to you and it never happens again.

I had a nice neighbor's son-in-law play loud music while our whole block "was" quiet as a church mouse. I shouldn't have but I sucked it up for one summer, before calling the cops the next summer. He turned it down. Some time after that I still had to ask him to turn it down again. He did. Now so far he hasn't been turning it on at all, thank God for his sake and mine, cos any more after that you don't know what a stressed person is capable of! Bottom line: DON'T STAND FOR IT! NIP IT IN THE BUD NOW! Just do it sensibly and courageously.

Btw, I started off by writing an email to Bloomberg and actually made a semi-threat towards the noise-maker in my letter. A few months later a sargeant from my local precinct visited me to talk about it. He basically said if it happens again to call and they will issue the noise-maker a summons. Oh it took a few months cos the sargeant said there was a lot of red tape involved.

PS. I am a long-time user of Prozac. I gotta great defense if I ever need one lol. Hopefully I will never need it though. Much luck to you from a person's who has been there =)
