Vote TODAY! (plus a quiz: How green is Bloomberg?)
Go out and vote! All parties have candidates running today, and this is our chance to act like we're in control of this town.
For those concerned with environmental issues, Noticing New York posted a quiz, "How 'Green' is out Bloomberg" at
http://noticingnewyork.blogspot.com/2009/11/on-your-way-vote-we-quizzically-ask-how.html
Also, the usually Democratic blogger mole333 has some surprising endorsements (at least I consider them surprising):

He's even got an interesting write-in for Brooklyn Borough President:
Brooklyn Borough President: Write-in: Gatemouth
Okay, I could go on, but we're all tired of this election. One reason that some politicians bury us in advertising is to demoralize us. We can't let that happen. We have so few chances to speak our minds in a meaningful way. Despite all the flaws, today is our chance.

There are lots of things wrong with him, but he has dedicated his life to public service, and he is highly qualified for the job. I consider that a plus, though we have an incumbent who thinks that serving in public office is bad, unless he's the one in office. He generally acts as if the rules don't apply to him, and Bloomberg acts like he's opposed to special interests, even though he has profited enormously during his term in office.
but suffice it to say he is a mean-spirited, nasty, hypocritical shill
for the worst developers ever.
The only official alternative is a Republican. I can't do that either.
At one point I half jokingly promised fellow blogger Gatemouth that I
would write him in ffor Brooklyn BP. In reality he is better than
either of the official candidates so I plan on fulfilling that
promise. If a good chunk of people write in Gatemouth for Brookly BP,
it won't really make any difference, but it will a.) make a good
person (Gatemouth's real persona) feel good and b.) show I keep my
promise. Here are the write in instructions:
"You may vote for a candidate not listed on the ballot by writing in
the candidate's name. Locate the button over the column of numbered
slots on the left of the voting machine and:
1. For General Election: Depress the button and, while holding it
in, open the slot opposite the office for which you wish to write in a
candidate's name."
Do me a favor...take the effort and vote Gatemouth for Brooklyn BP.
And spread the word. If we get a respectable number of votes for
Gatemouth, it will make an impression of sorts.

I will see you at the polling booth. I am sure the @250 million Bloomer spent getting rules changed so that he could spend his own 250 will have no influence on the outcome. Christine Quinn is by far the "greenest" of them all, she has taken more of Bloomberg's green than anybody else. Cheerleaders and pom poms won't stop Mike.

Bloomberg will easily win this one.

Seriously, 120 million dollars or more later, he won by less than %5. I guess money can buy everything...... -

He has spent over 250 million of his own money over the 3 races. Being mayor is very important to him. 250 million should make us ask ego? agenda ? or just plain good citizen trying to help out. -
If I had a job I really wanted, I'd be willing to spend about 2% of my net worth to get it. ....just sayin'

Haha, Raul, you are so predictable. I knew you'd come back on here and try to make an alleged point.
Yes, I concede that the victory was not as easy as I and many others had thought it would be, but, in the end, Thompson is still on the losing side (thank God!).
But I know that you don't feel so bad, given your history of backing losing candidates. You can take the boy out of Berkeley.... -

I have built up quite an impressive list of losing campaigns! And kudos for admitting that Bloomberg's victory was not as easy as you thought. I'll give Bloomberg this: He's right when he said that he's been proving conventional wisdom wrong... such as the widely held belief that he would win by a large margin.
But I know that you don't feel so bad, given your history of backing losing candidates. -
By the way, Prospect Heights voted for Thompson by a small margin, unlike Park Slope, which voted for Bloomberg. Check out this map:

Ha! I have losing campaign buttons for every losing Democratic Presidential candidate since Mondale/Ferraro (I'm not counting Gore in that since he actually won the election but lost the court case).
Howdy, Stranger!
