... if you're from Brooklyn, New Jursey, Long Eyeland, the Bronx or Staten Eyeland, you'll really appreciate this!

Why do Italians hate Jehovah's Witnesses?
    Because Italians hate all witnesses.

Do you know why most men from Italy are named Tony?
On the boat over to America they put a sticker on them that said
TO NY (To New York .)

    You know you're Italian when . . .

You can bench press 325 pounds, shave twice a day and still crywhen your mother yells at you.

You carry your lunch in a produce bag
because you can't fit two cappicola sandwiches, 4 oranges, 2 bananas, and pizzelles into a regular lunch bag.

Your mechanic, plumber, electrician, doctor, accountant, travel agent and lawyer are all your cousins.

You are on a first name basis with
at least 8 banquet hall owners

You only get one good shave from a disposable razor.

If someone in your family grows beyond 5' 9', it is presumed his/her Mother had an affair.

There were more than 28 people in your bridal party.

You netted more than $50,000 in gifts
    for your first communion.

And you REALLY, REALLY know you're Italian when . . .

Your grandfather had a fig tree.

You eat Sunday dinner at 2:00 pm.

On Christmas Eve, you only eat fish.

Your mom's meatballs are the best.

You've been hit with a wooden spoon or had a shoe thrown at you.

Clear plastic covers are on all the furniture in your house.

You know how to pronounce 'manicotti' and 'mozzarella.'

You fight over whether it's called 'sauce' or 'gravy.'

    You've called someone a 'mamaluke.'

    And you understand 'bada bing'

  • To All My Friends....

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making
my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

    They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things..

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore.
I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER!

    HUGS!

  • Hey Suzanne, I read about your uncle Andres (Andys) passing on the blog yesterday and when I signed on today for some reason the words that popped into my mind were hakuna matata. You are probably aware that this comes from the movie "The Lion King". I have never seen the movie all the way through for whatever reason but the one thing i remember about it is the idea of the "circle of life." I hadda google hakuna matata to see if THAT is what it meant. It doesn't exactly have that meaning but it's meaning borders on it...in my opinion. If you are like I was and don't already know the meaning...google it. The suffering is over for a loved when when death comes and yet it just seems to begin for those of us that are left behind to pick up the pieces. Even though it's no suprise when death comes to some, it still hurts. Say I love you today, tomorrow and everyday to your loved ones that are still with ya, even if ya think they don't understand or can't hear ya(coma, alzheimers or whatever else). SAY I'm sorry...it DOES mean something when YOU mean it. Don't let there be things left unsaid that can (and in my opinion WILL) only bring more pain after they have passed. Deal with the pains while there is a chance to recover things and maybe death won't hold such a great sting. And if you, like me...haven't always had the opportunity to have done these things in the past...today could be the day. Just do it. NO MATTER WHAT.

  • I started my last post out as a PM to Suzie and half way through writing it, it turned into a little more than *I* intended. I then realized I wanted to send it here as a blog post but continued typing it as PM to Suzie. I hit submit and wondered why it wasn't on the blog...anyway...lol? I'm in the mood for some grated cheese from the macaroni store between 18th and 19th on 5th. I know it probably isn't there anymore but the memories still linger. Have a good one. just in case some of you don't get it...Suzie will be reading my same post above in two different places. I sent it to Suzie as a PM and when i realized what I had done I copy and pasted it from that PM to here.[/u][/i]

OMG U R so right.. u must always tell your loved ones and friends i love u. My boys now 34 and 21 still kiss me and say I love after we leave each other and on the phone. May sound like they are nerds and they are far from it. I have brain washed them and instilled in them that family is very important no matter what. I once told my older one, along time ago, at his h.s graduation and college parties.
When u get older and if u get married never forget God first and Family next. If u get married make sure u buy your own birthday card for me cause your wife probably won't do it.LOL (ps have a great daughter in law(that sends me beautiful cards) and always say I love u!!!
I also told him when he was getting married..buy your wife flowers just for nothing, dont wait for a birthday or holiday. ALWAYS SAY I LOVE U AND MEAN IT...
My Mom always told us that before going to bed make up with the person you had a fight with, never go to bed mad u never know what tomorrow will bring.
All of us here and everyone has their things going on in their lives, no one's life is perfect. Different families same crap. OK GETTING TO DEEP NOW. SORRY MICHAEL
