Mike Bloomberg just called me. Well, his recorded message just called me.

Yeah, I've had calls from Mike, Marty and Colin Powell over the last three days. Irritating. -
I know who decided to toss out our votes to limit terms, and I know we should toss them out.

With Bloomberg on one side of the river and Christie on the other, we're going to have a Tri-State economic mess, worse than what it is now.
-
Bloomberg makes economic messes?

In between all of the very massive and very empty development, the uprise in cost-of-living and cost of doing business, the flight of NY'ers moving elsewhere, all to name just a few....you tell me.

I guess you can blame him for the empty development, or at least, not being prepared for the possibility of the financial/real estate crisis.
Not sure he's responsible for the cost of living, when has that ever not gone up (except when the city was decaying and going bankrupt) -
That no one saw the very minimum of a real estate/new development glut, or at the very least all the elected officials were in it for the short-term investment is amazing to me. Exactly how many millionaires did they think were out there willing to pay close to Manhattan prices for all that space? The City not only gave these developers amazing tax breaks, now they want to pay them to take in low-income residents along with the developers being able to charge very low rents because of the tax breaks. I don't even want to get into what the City Council wants to do with current rent laws so they can save their rent stabilized apartments. Regular homeowners are being anti-trusted/big businessed (allow me to GW some vocabulary) out of their hard earned investment. And it doesn't stop with real estate. Look at cab drivers who are being forced to collect an extra fifty cents tax to finance the MTA. And yet the MTA keeps raising fares. $2.25 x 10 trips a year cuts into a person's income quite considerably, as well as cutting into a cab driver's tips (getting back to the tax), which provides their income. This is a prime example of Joe Citizen and small business owners getting royally screwed. How about the sweetheart deals given to companies like Target or the Atlantic Mall in general? Do you think "mom & pop" stores got those kind of breaks?
-
i know mom and pop stores are not getting breaks. my favorite mom and pop here on smith and warren st is going through tough times. i hope they never leave the neighborhood that is surrounded by upscale boutiques, fancy restaurants, etc. i so miss the 99 cent store that is now a starbucks.
Howdy, Stranger!
