  • The new place going in next to Breuklen Coffee is going to be called Dutch Boy Burgers. The guy said they would have sausages too! Yippee!!!
  • As a result of this thread, today I asked Mrs. Whynot what foie gras is.

    I now know that it is NOT a strange variety of lettuce. Here's the thought process that went into the prior hypothesis:

    foie = something french = skip to next word

    gras = grass = lettuce

    something french + lettuce = some strange variety of lettuce

    ...I thought I should share and celebrate my oaf-ness online.

    :D
  • #-o =D>

    On a related tangent, I was talking with some French friends about the Saw movies and they responded with something I hadn't considered:

    In French, one pronounces "Saw 6" as saucisses.

    (sausages)

    Bwahahah.

    They got the rights to the name? nice...I loved that un-earthed sign.

    Has a picture of the new facade going up at the Dutch Boy Burger Place and a discussion about Homage -- seems its now "up in the air" as to whether they will reopen. ugh!
  • Subject: There IS a Bar/Restaurant on Franklin

    There IS already a bar/ restaurant on Franklin; 95 South.
    I know, I know, the place has a reputation, and most people prefer Franklin Park, but I hear the sunday bbq's are pretty good, and whenever I walk by the music sounds great. Maybe if they did what Brooklyn Exposure (a few blocks away) did to attract a more mixed crowd, have live jazz brunch on weekends.
  • Actually Im a woman, married with kids. I do think there is demand for such a place for peope to eat drink high quality food, and hang out. I also go to Bombay Masala, Chevellas etc, but I think the neighborhood could support many different dining options. A Choice Franklin would be a good start - but a brasserie would be heaven.

    95 South in my opinion doesnt seem too inviting. Its more club-like. I wouldnt think of going for an early dinner with my kids -- or perhaps I am wrong and you guys know better than I do...
