lanlords and working appliances?

My microwave has been broken for two weeks (built in unit) the landlord is ignoring all of my maintenance requests. Not as serious as a fridge, but still highly annoying.

I'm not sure. Check tenant.net - they know a lot about tenant rights.
Also, if you have renters insurance, your spoiled food is likely covered. -

Flexi,

Thanks. I am pretty sure that my deductible is too high for the spoiled food. But your suggestion is good and I guess it can’t hurt for me to call my insurance company and double check. I also like the Tenant.net suggestion. Thanks. -
You're welcome. A fridge of wasted food actually adds up to a LOT of money - if your fridge and freezer are anything like mine, you have half-used salad dressings, condiments, frost-burned frozen meat and all kinds of crap in there. If you had to replace it all, you are talking several hundred dollars...at least. Might be worth taking an inventory

I'm pretty sure your landlord is completely responsible for a working Fridge and waiting a week is too long.
But yeah, check tenant.net -
I don't know, you might have to check the fine print of your lease. I think the standard Blumberg one for under 6 units says the landlord provides appliances but tenant may have to replace.
But most landlords will do it anyway, in a New York landlord minute (aka whenever they get around to it). -
I think we have the same landlord! Actually, yours sounds pretty attentive compared to mine. Our kitchen sink has been broken for a couple of years now. We just gave up asking for them to fix things.
I just decided to give up on that shit and bought a place. If all goes as hoped I'll be out of there next month. -

I think I've asked you this before, but are you *Rob* from Brownstoner?
