Hello Anthony, You know I do not come on the blog to often mainly because I can not relate to a great deal on here. I was however in your position many years ago. We had a mutt named Ralph. Great with the kids, fun to be with at any age. One day I had to scoop him up off the kitchen floor, put him in a box and take him to the vet. They told me that they thought he was in some pain but if I wanted them to keep him overnight and use medication and liquids via an IV, they would know better in the morning. In the morning they told me they could not control his pain and the Humane thing to do was have him put down. When I signed the papers I felt like a murderer. After they performed the task (painlessly) I walked home and cried my eyes out. Here I am the Husband, Father strong like the rock of Gibralter crying in my back yard. When I came to my senses I realized that what I signed for was the most humane thing I ever did for Ralph. We knew the VET and he would not have recommended it if there was another way. I found peace in my soul for that decision and have nothing but good memories for the 13 years we had him. Have not had a dog since and do not want one. As a matter of fact we are not allowed to have one in the area I live in. That does not mean that I feel no one can replace a dog they loved. just my feelings. Chin up!
