You've got sushi tatsu a few blocks toward Eastern Parkway on Franklin.
-
Well there's Papa John's right on Fulton...
But seriously, check out the options on Menu Pages. And walk down Bedford and Franklin towards Lafayette. There's new places all the time around there. -
there's great takeout at Kush Cafe on Putnam Between Grand & Fulton- and Sammy the owner is mad cool.

you are just about a block away from me! A lot of delivery restaurants have a one mile delivery radius which puts us on the edge of some of Park Slope.
I feel the need to note pre post that I am a vegan which shapes the food I eat (so I'm not listing pizza but if you check there sounds like there is some new good place on franklin and you would surely be in their delivery range), but that being said...
for delivery:
Chinese: hunan delight in Park Slope will deliver, Hing Lung in Prospect Heights, Mr Wonton in Park Slope has left menu's on my doorstep
Mexican: Chavella's in Crown Heights will deliver
Indian: Bombay Masala in Crown Heights is supposed to be really good and have nice seating but also does delivery
Raw: Rawstar in Prospect Heights (and it is affordable for raw!)
Middle Eastern: Zaytoons in Prospect Heights or Fort Greene
Thai: Fulton Thai (though arguably not great, but it can be hard to find great thai in brooklyn...which is a whole nother thread!)
Senegalise: Joloff
also probably anything here:

non delivery food:
check out Ali's Roti Shop, Melanie's, Desserts by Michael Allen...I haven't tried Kush yet but I realllllllly want to. Apparently there is a new ethiopian place in Clinton Hill too on Fulton.
For moving into the neighborhood-
Groceries- Met on Fulton is ok and owners are nice, Key Food is eh on Fulton, Foodtown a little further down is nice and if you have a bike with a basket pretty easy. There are one or two organicy health places - one by Met on Fulton toward Clinton Hill, and one or two on Fulton further into Bed Stuy around Nostrand. For produce just walk into bedstuy on fulton - it is a really fun walk on a pretty day and there is tons of awesome produce and spices that are hard to find elsewhere, especially for as cheap (arrowroot - holla!)
Coffee: Outpost and Bushbaby are both pretty cute with Bushbaby offering a larger menu especially on the weekends and Outpost being basics like muffins and hummus.
Bar: Outpost also has wine and beer and an outdoor space which is lovely in the summer. Summer sangria and I think they might have mulled in the winter. There is also Sputnik a little further into bed stuy and they host Wednesgays for the Thats My Jam group which is pretty cool
Purchasing Alcohol: there is a place on franklin one block north of fulton to your left that is open really late. Otherwise I wait and get my wine from Gnarly Vines in Fort Greene (awesome sustainable vegan wines) or Trader Joes cause I'm cheap
Dollar/cheap stores: Family Dollar on Fulton b/w classon and franklin, there is also a goodwill. the kids who work at the family dollar are really nice. There is also a petland discounts and an ok hardware store and another dollarstore further down as you walk toward tompkins ave.
Other: there are some pretty cool clothing swaps, various types of meet ups, I'm involved in Food Not Bombs in the neighborhood...
check out the blogs i love franklin ave and bed stuy blog to keep up to date on some community stuff (we are in the unique position of being at the four corners of Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill, Bed Stuy, and Crown Heights) -
I vouche for all of the following: Maggie Brown, Choice Market, Soule (soul food - vegetarian mock meat options), Red Bamboo (all vegetarian menu)... all of these places deliver. Tried Just Taste It over the weekend and they were pretty good (food is well-seasoned though, so if you're afraid of salt then I wouldn't recommend) - Dao Palate is also good (vegetarian only) food that delivers.
Pizza in the area sucks so hard.
The caribbean-style buffets around here are pretty good and dirt cheap by the pound. There are lots of these restaurants if you walk down Fulton towards Nostrand.
Try GrubHub.com for more delivery options according to your address. -
oh and i second Joloff!
-
I like Kinara's for Indian food (avoid the saag paneer though). Everything else I've ordered from there has been good, though.
On another note, avoid Manee Thai. My boyfriend and I both got sick from food we ate there this past weekend. :-/ -
I second Kinara for regular indian food.
Kush is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city. -

Thanks so much, guys. I'm psyched to get the ball rolling on trying all of this stuff. I did hit up one of those buffets over here. I had some lamb concoction with some rice. It was really good and cheap to boot.
Howdy, Stranger!
