Beaujolais Nouveau

Uuuuuuuuuuuum. Well, given that Beaujolais nouveau is essentially marketed for Americans and tastes like juice or yellow tail, you can def find it anywhere. Even Slope Cellars had a label or two.
-
Beaujolais Nouveau = ick ick ick........but like Scarlett said, you can find it anywhere
-
What useless, boorish snobbery. Was he asking for your personal opinions of Beaujolais? You really go for quantity over quality with these posts of yours.
Beaujolais Nouveau does not taste anything like Yellow Tail, unless your taste is only as discerning as the price tag on the bottle.
Daniel, you should be able to go into any decent liquor store (i.e. one not shrouded in bulletproof glass) and pick from a few bottles of Nouveau. They're going to be fairly similar, as there aren't too many variables in the wine's production, and should be under $10 each, so you can try a few of them and see which one is to your liking. -
I often found Scotto's on Court Street to be the most informative and provide tastings. They are not the cheapest but are not overpriced. I try to make the most of the sojourn by a stop at Trader Joes (and my one guilty pleasure - prosciutto bread from Caputos).

TJ's is good, but the best place I have found in all of New York City is Warehouse Wines on Broadway and Astor. The prices and selection rival anything I've seen in the US. -
Also -- as a correction to the obnoxious person above. Only half of the Beaujolais nouveau production is exported from France.... and the largest market is Germany. Aslo, while it's the most popular (because of marketing by the largest producer, Georges Duboeuf) -- it's one of 55 vins de primeur... same-year wines.
In other words, lots and lots of French folks love to down bottles of this young, simple wine.... and similar wines. And gosh darnit, it's tasty!
While I would never turn down sipping and savoring a Châteauneuf-du-Pape -- why would I dismiss a lovely Beaujolais -- nouveau or otherwise? -
Hey Daniel, I was in Slope Cellars yesterday and there were two featured Beaujolais bottlings right up front near the registers.
-
I don't find it tasty at all. I like my wine big and bold. Like my men. What can I say? There are plenty of inexpensive red wines that I find much more interesting and tasty than a beaujolais.

Flexi..my dear.. you do have a right to your opinion.. without getting attacked early on a Sunday morning.
Hey, Part of the fun here is we can argue about anything from wines to how to fix clunking radiators and everything in between and on the sides. -
thank you, Veets. I didn't say they were a heathen or anything. I just thought it ;-)
-
I think Sterling Grapes & Wine had a sign up a week ago announcing the the date their Beaujolais arrives. Plus they have really good prices.

What can you say?
Well, given this is a thread about wine, I suppose you could suggest some that you do like, but it seems you'd prefer to tell us more about yourself :? -
^wow. Ten posts in and you already figured that out. Congratulations.
-
Call the guys at Juice Box on Prospect Ave & Greenwood Ave.
Super nice guys, if they don't have it they will be able to tell you where to get it. -

I was subtly trying to point out that maybe you could be a little more interesting if you tried a little harder 8) -

At your service. I was under the impression that the allure of the Beaujolais was its ability to foreshadow the romance of wines to come. It's can be an indication of the relative strengths and weaknesses of a season (to the sophisticated yet unpretentious palate). Also, it tends to be a celebratory wine, served chilled, and drunk to excess... so that's good.

For my money there is nothing better than a case of fruity wine and a room full of the biggest and boldest men I can find. That, a box of magnums and my flexichick flashlight and I'm good for 10 hours. -
I actually agree with DR. In France ppl drink it on the street as kind of a jokey party. To my understanding, the marketing scheme started because regular ppl wanted to taste young wines and predict how the wines will turn out in maturity, often tasted and predicted by ppl who are blind.
At any rate, I am def not qualified to predict and after a few years of tasting, feel cheated and unhappy for drinking the nouveau. If it's your thing, go to it. -
Umm... Box of magnum? <<sniffle>> slinking away with inadequacy...
-
perhaps he was only referring to this box of magnums:

(5L = 3.33 magnums...

So in other words, it's sorta like the "Colt 45" of the French? :P

Hell, I even feel cuddly and warm towards DR after a few.

"Don't let the smooth taste fool you. It works everytime."

As they say, garbage in, garbage out! Although, we can do some empirical tests -- I'm always up for several
