We're thinking about using Eastern for our trip to the LGA on early Thanksgiving morning. Since this is our first time using Eastern, my questions is...How reliable do you think they are when picking up in the early (pre 6am) morning (especially on a holiday)? Is making a reservation the day before a save bet? How about their online reservation system? I hate to be stranded in the early morning when trying to catch a flight. Any past experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I use them all the time. Usually I call the night before, but I have called last minute as well. They are punctual, and usually have "decent" cars. The price is always reasonable.

    We use them regularly, never make a reservation and usually no problem. Should be $28 to LGA. Get the price from the dispatcher and don't ask the driver

    Been using them regularly for 12 years and tomorrow morning I will take them to JFK. I never call in advance - they arrive at my house within 5 minutes or so. Never once had a problem.

    Take Jack's advice and ask the dispatcher for the price when you call - it's not common, but you don't want a driver trying to take advantage.

    I never reserve in advance.

    Always use Eastern for work, by far the cheapest ride to any Metro airport. I don't ever call in advance, and they always show up in about 5-10 minutes.

    Get a price from the dispatcher.

    How about from the airport? Do you just call when you arrive? Is the pick up time pretty fast too?

    I used Eastern for an early flight out of lga this morning. I called last night to book and asked for the price. It was $30 from south slope and the driver showed up in a new hybrid car ten minutes early. Was at lga in less than 20 minutes. Have used them for similar trips and always call the day before but maybe am super anal.

    I call during the taxi in. It is often a PITA to find the car but usually the driver calls when he or she gets there so I know the color of the car and where they are. You have to cross to the island in the middle and it helps tostand under one of the passenger pickup signs with a number on it. But then you never have to worry about the driver knowing where they are going or getting stuck in traffic and watching the meter run up.

    I book them online thru their website--usually the night before. Even for local trips. They've never missed a pickup.

    Eastern works just fine for me. I also use Continental for airport trips. I do call in advance but that is because of my anxiety about making the flight and they show up 10 minutes BEFORE the time I request.

    I'm in San Francisco right now. I called for a car on Saturday to go to JFK and they were there in 10 minutes. The car was clean and got us there in 20 minutes for $35. Tipped the guy $7 because he insisted on loading and unloading our bags and carried to them to the curb at JFK. I also use these guys every week and I have never had a problem. They will accept reservations for airport and Manhattan trips.

    For anyone else interested in using Eastern, I've used them dozens of times and they have only been late in picking me up a few times, early in the AM. Eastern is reliable and cheap.

    Another person that regularly uses Eastern to the airports. I'm paranoid and always make a resevation, but that's now compounded by my needing a carseat for my 20-month old daughter. They're typically early for the pickup, but don't mind waiting. I make my return reservation the night before my flight and call to confirm when I'm waiting at the gate to board my flight. Like others, I recommend getting the fare price from the dispatcher. Eastern's always been courteous and reasonably priced. Good luck!

    Had one not-so-good experience with Eastern but that's out of maybe 25-30 trips. I make a reservation the night before by phone ($30 to LGA from the South Slope), and the drivers are always early for pickup.

    Had a very bad time once with Clinton Car Service. That was my go-to service when living in Cobble Hill and the Heights, but once had a rude, abusive driver who got nasty with us when there was no seatbelt at all in the back seat and the guy insisted on speeding, tailgating and otherwise driving really dangerously on the way to the airport. Think aggressive driving and multiply by five. Filed a complaint with the TLC over it.
