what's their agenda?
After reading your post I was ready to post a "I'm coming to visit your place for the first time, this week, next week latest" reply, until I went back and saw that it was listed as owing workers $36k in back wages. I'm interested in hearing your side of the story. -

Someone understands PR.
I am however curious about the link you posted under your profile re: donating to schools. I found a class cause that I am very interested in supporting. Can you send me more info on your affiliation to the site? Bogota Bistro sets aside an annual budget to support causes that we believe merit support: Latino, Children, Education, GLBT issues and Poverty. I also have my own personal budget I have for annual donations to things I believe in. (Hint: I am a big fan of photography).
Thank you...a private note on this would be greatly appreciated. -
Or someone understands bribing the opposition!
-
Obviously there are multiple sides to every story, but I haven't heard anything from Farid explaining why the DOL thinks they owe $36K in wages, or what their "agenda" is.
-
LOL. Gotta love this board. Just gotta love this board. It's almost as juicy as the Maury Povich show but it still has a way to go before it can get there. WHO's YA BABY DADDY! I had forgotten how much fun these boards can be. I haven't actually had this kind of fun since I was finally outed as the Bogota shiller on Chowhound years ago!
Have a great evening everyone. Wishing everyone on here a Happy Thanksgiving.
Incidentally, I am trying to upload an Avatar on there...i've kept it to less than 125W x 125H but it's not uploading. Can anyone help! -
I don't care if Bogota is waterboarding their busboys, I'll still eat there.

hola mis amigos -
so, Farid, what is the explanation/agenda behind the $36K? multiple posts by you with your side of the story, but no real answer(s)
(p.s if you want me to buy me off/make me go away, there has to be alcohol and hot guys included) -
<--- will stop posting in exchange for mere alcohol.
Pick me, not flexi.
P.S. Only on this thread. I added this so other posters won't mail me alcohol so I'll go away entirely. -
Farid, if you want you can upload the avatar pic to http://imageshack.us and pm me the resulting link and I'll make sure it gets set in your profile correctly (via the usual incantations on page 627, Standard Book of Mod Spells).
****updated to add:
Farid, I saved a link to a Bogota Bistro coaster image to be your avatar. Have a look at your profile and see the link to the image there, and swap that link out for another link to another avatar image if you'd prefer. Have fun... -
Farid - I'll respond publicly rather than PM so other people might also donate. I have no affiliation to the sites other than being a donor myself, they are http://donorschoose.org and http://adoptaclassroom.org Both have listings in the immediate neighborhood as well as nationally.
Still interested in hearing your side of the DOL story. -
FaridNYC wrote: Danny, you put a big smile on my face and just for that: effective tomorrow, there will be a $50 Bogota Latin Bistro Gift card waiting for you at the restaurant. It's my personal way of saying, "BOGOTA ROCKS AND SO DO YOU!" (Just show a manager some ID with your name.)
TO TOP IT OFF: I can set up a private water boarding session with my busboys for you if you like!
If it's all the same to you, I'll pass on the busboy dunking session and go straight for a slice of the Tres Leches cake, (which had the Missus and I swooning two weeks ago). Bogota does indeed rock. -

Greetings everyone!
Jeffrey: thanks for the avatar! It's perfect! -

Yes, lots of info in the post above, but this question hasn't even been touched.

...and it keeps resurfacing, as if we were sincere about the drinks. -
Long Time Sloper...I'm a long time sloper too! How long have you lived here for? I was raised on Sackett Street from 1967 to 1974 at which point we moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania. It's been an amazing turn of events in my life to have come back 30 years later and actually open up a business just blocks away from where I grew up. I attended PS 282 and eventually went on to attend St. Francis Xavier. Maybe we went to the same school together?
-
ok... who knows if that even is a real spokesman/owner/whatnot.
But it seems he really isnt interested in giving an explanation and is just using the board to push his place.
Bad publicity is good publicity. Can we just label every post he makes as an ad for his place and ignore it? -

How about responding to LongTimeSloper's question? -

It will be my pleasure to accept your kind offer, and we'll be there with bells on as soon as we get past effin' Thanksgiving.
Danny: I have had our 3 leches cake every day for the past week. It is so damn addictive. I even called up some friends last night and invited them to come to Bogota on my night off so we could share conversation over dessert. Again, it is my pleasure to offer you the $50 gift card so you and your wife can enjoy yourselves again at our restaurant. I would also entertain the pleasure of meeting you and the wife, personally. -

That's one of Donald Trump's favorite lines, too. He's actually one of my heroes, alongside with Oprah Winfrey, Madonna and Mother Theresa! (YES, REALLY!) I've actually had the pleasure of meeting all of them and all of them have inspired me on one way or another.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive! -

Really, we'd like to know your side of the story Bogota Bistro. Totally not impressed with you ignoring the basic question.
All I'm getting from this so far is Dept of Labor = awesome and Farid/Bogota Bistro doesn't care to pay workers. That's not nice... -
Pitu WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? You were one of our earliest haters. We still bring up your name to this day when we discuss those early days of Chowhound. it's always accompanied with a chuckle.
Weren't you the one to "out" me as the Bogota shiller! Darn you, Pitu! Darn you!
"I'll be compulsively checking back throughout the day." :cyclopsani: -
Farid - really, you won't respond?
-
Really, you have an opportunity to voice your side and yet you keep avoiding the question.
-
In the meantime, I invite you to find ONE Brooklyn school categorized as being located in a High Poverty area to which I personally will contribute $250 dollars to to help fund a cause you feel fitting and deserving. The website (thanks Squindar) is http://www.donorschoose.org.

From where I stand, that sounds like you're still up $35,500.
-
I will be happy to look through that website and find a worthy recipient.
Can't help but be curious about why you won't answer, though.
I enjoy your restaurant but I don't think you're doing yourself any favors in this thread.
Oh, well.
PS: "Sweetie" is insulting and you know it. -
Carnivore! I love this board!
Where was this board when I had my Dilbert 9 to 5 job at the law firm with nothing to do all day long but web surf and take 3 hour lunch breaks where no one ever noticed i was even gone? :compress:
I also happen to LOVE the emoticons!
