  • Ironically, this post will probably be moved, since the border patrol insists that Prospect Heights HS is actually located in Crown Heights. Go figure.
  • I live in CH. The school is two blocks south of me. It isn't PH and it hasn't been for all my 11 years here. Just sayin'.
  • I believe they are repairing a retaining walls if you are taking about the part adjacent to the field. The city is updating the facilities.

Yes, just like the Meadowlands are in New Jersey even though the teams that play there call themselves the "New York" Jets and "New York" Giants.
  • Prospect heights HS is on Classon South of Eastern Parkway?

Does the community of Prospect Heights extend South of Eastern Parkway at all anyway?

This is a serious question. Does anyone know the answer?

As someone who lives on the south side of Eastern Parkway, it never has been called that.
Oh wait- back in the early 90's when my old roomie used to show the rooms in what is now my apartment. People didn't want to live in CH (which it technically was/is). She lied and told them PH so they wouldn't be scared off. Didn't usually work...

Lol, thanks! Early 90's? Rent must of been dirt cheap! Wish I knew about the neighborhood then!
  • If Prospect Heights HS is located in Crown Heights, then why is it called Prospect Heights HS?

If you go back decades before "11 years", well before 99% of the posters on this board were born, it was still called Prospect Heights HS.

Nice logic, Carnivore. It gives me permission to rename Forest Hills HS and start calling it Bayonne HS instead. Genius.

I think your post is the one with the flawed logic. No one said anything about renaming the high school. I was only illustrating the point that sometimes institutions take their names from neighboring locations rather than their actual location.

I think I agree Carnivore. It definitely seems clear that Prospect Heights does not extend South of Eastern Parkway. Perhaps when choosing a name for the HS, it was thought that Prospect Heights High had a better 'ring" to it than the factual Crown Heights High.

Also, Classon and Washington Ave (the eastern border of Prospect Heights) are very close and almost merge when they reach Eastern Parkway, so perhaps the builderrs/namers thought why not stretch the association by a few more feet.
