closing the van delivery service. — Brooklynian

closing the van delivery service.

today after some tickets by my brother and a car accident right afterwards.

final straw, been bleeding money for over 2 years now. the illegal ticketing by the metermaids this year finally got to me. no point in fighting it since most of the replies by mail is always guilty even with their stupid administrative judges being told of faulty window stickers(read it on nytimes do a search), we still got a guilty even after is send in a copy of the sticker itself. anyway stuff like this just gets to me. besides the blatant illegal tickets i get.

so no more and mods delete my van ad.

  • armchair,

    Very sorry to hear.

I hope no one was hurt in the car accident.

I know that many of us here have really appreciated your help on a number of occasions.

Thanks for being there and let us know what you're up to next.
  • That stinks. Your bro helped me pick up a bunch of stuff from Queens a couple of years ago. Thanks again for the great service, sorry the ticket BS ruined a good thing (I know what you mean about the ticket stuff, I have a non-sticky registration ticket pending hearing and I just know I'm gonna have to take off work to appeal it).
  • Armchair, FWIW, I have 2 commercial vehicles that accumulate tickets like a magnet attracts flies. I used to pay the tickets on line until Her Majesty Bloomburg went medieval on small business vehicles. I discovered that going down to 66 John St. once a month to the commercial adjudication center for a face to face was definitely worth the trip. There is nobody there!
If I was there for more than 30 minutes I'd be surprised. Not at all like the regular grunts with their private ticket hell. The worse thing about the place was a TV permanently tuned to CNN. Very painful!
  • Armchair!

So sorry to hear of all the crap you and your brother had been going through.
I completely understand and wish it were better.
You were wonderful to us and helped us furnish nearly our whole apartment with craigslist finds. Thank you so much for all of your help over the years.

Best of luck with your next adventures!

  • to the best van service ever:: RIP. very sad.
  • First - sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully no one was hurt and the repairs are minimal.

Second, sorry to hear that the backasswards administration of NYC forced another service provider out of business. Don't give up Armchair - you and your hard-working family are the life blood of this city - - investment bankers may come and go but you are truly a part of it.

I have gotten a ticket for a peeling sticker as well - appealed it with proof, etc. to no avail. I hope you fare better. Perhaps a commercial vehicle may have a better outcome.

Much luck in whatever you decide - - you WILL prosper due to your work ethic in any endeavor.
  • nobody was hurt stupid accident as hell. i got a witness in the van and thats about it. cop wouldn't let my brother talk to the guys on the streets to get more witnesses on what happen and gave my brother tons of tickets.

jerk can die for all i care.
