Dec 14th! 5th Annual Brooklynian Festivus Party!
FESTIVUS!
A holiday for the rest of us!
There will be Airing of Grievances, Drinking, Dancing, and Feats of Strength! Not to mention the usual shit talking and trips to Carneviento and Albaz. BigGuy lost his massive pole at the last one, so hopefully we can grab someone else's.

When? see the poll -results will be updated
Where: Sharlene's AKA "Mooney's"
Time? Meh.... let's say 6:30 or 7pm start time?

The 14th is the only day that week I might be able to do. I added it to the poll.
-
i vote the 15th or the 16th; doesn't matter which.
-
Anything but the 15th works for me.

Vote for the 14th! 8) -
I won't be here for any of those dates and I am soooo sad!! Maybe I'll attend my first festivus party next year.
-
Sadly, I will no longer be a Brooklynian by then. Sad considering that's the first time I met a lot of you.
-
I don't care what date.
-
I can do any day as well.

You can still come , dammit!!
-
to be a Brooklynian is a state of mind; it is not based on geography.

^LOL! Sure! No funny business like last time , though.
It don't matter where you move , you're still a Brooklynian member.
You're in for life! -
I won't vote.... just tell me when and where and I'll do my best to turn up.

What?? You're leaving this blessed borough??? Well, I think you should do your darnest (is that really a word??!) to make it! You've been such an active - and hilarious poster, you deserve it to yourself to celebrate the season with your former neighbors!
-
the 14th is also fine for me.
i'm not going to vote because the 14th, 15th, or 16th are all fine for me. -

You touched me! Your BFF is my witness!

Yes, Nomad, I'm leaving the BK. Too sweet a deal to pass up, really. -
I'm in - I don't care which day. I'll be home by then

"There's Christmas and there's Channuka (sp?) and there's Festivus for the rest of us"
Bring it on. I will be looking forward to the feats of strength !
Ya want a piece of me?
Any day is fine, I will be there. -

Uh uh! You was the one all up on this , rubbing up on my shoulder purring like a kitty cat.
I'm free now....meow , baby.

^ I am officially impressed with and scared of Em now :-)
-

Damn , I didn't think you were paying attention. #-o -
Trust me Em, they always know. Often the first clue that they know is that they start buttoning the top buttons on their blouse. As you get older you'll learn to be more discreet.
but back to the topic at hand....
I hereby volunteer to build a replacement FESTIVUS POLE!
...if I have enough time, I'll router "Brooklynian" in script on the base that keeps it up. Mougar will spell check for me. -

so far, the design will include the following:
1. Folks will be able to sign the pole with a permanent marker.
2. The pole will likely be made from lumber native to Prospect Heights (aka stuff Dude and I find on walks)
Additional ideas are welcome.
P.S. I am not storing this thing until next year. I say we leave it at Sharlene's unless somone wants it. -
Dude! (not the dog) the pole has to be made of aluminum! Of course, history shows us that religious ceremonies are corrupted and changed over time...
We're still sacrificing a virgin though.... right??!! -
a. If Dude and I find a virgin being thrown out on trash day, we will have nothing to do with her/him.
b. If we find an aluminum pole, we'll see if it is worth dragging home.
Otherwise, it is likely to be a column made of plywood, mounted on a wood base with casters. I'm only willing to spend money on this adventure if I get to raise it back by charging people $2 each to sign it.
Plus, the environmentalist in me says scrap wood is the way to go. -
How can you expect woody to use aluminum?
I think it's cool that we can tag it up.
I highly doubt anyone around here is a virgin so good luck with that!
-
As per discussion on the Carnivore thread, the wood pole will now be either painted with Aluminum colored radiator paint, or covered in Aluminum foil.
Personally, I'm leaning toward paint because I think marker will adhere to it better.
...having a wood pole will allow people to adhere things like bacon pictures, etc. with thumb tacks and/or staple guns. -
so the 14th is looking like the date?

The pole must be UNADORNED!
