never loved the place, but that's a prime corner spot now open for hopefully something much better to come along.

but with living on 7th also closing in the next couple weeks, that block isn't lookin' too good...

  • That spot is owned by the same people who run the Japanese-Peruvian fusion place on Garfield and 7th, as well as other restaurants in the area. My guess is it will be some Americanized version of some thing.
  • the japanese/peruvian place closed a while back and it's now a wine bar/tapas/sushi place, if it's the place i think you're talking about...

they should open a really great steakhouse in that spot. seems a lot of people in the hood would welcome it with open arms...
  • What? I thought they were only going to be closing on Mondays for the fall/winter season! They are closed for good now? How could that be? That place is always crowded!

Saw the Living on 7th store closing also, was wondering when that was coming since his Living on 5th store tanked a while ago as did the other store. Sorry to see it go though, liked their merhcandise
  • Wow...guess Barrio across the street didn't help.
  • i'm not sure how anyone could be surprised miracle grill is closing. the food was terrible.

i think park slopers seem to have gotten used to too much mediocre food...75% of the restaurants on 7th avenue aren't great.

and barrio is a TON better than miracle grill (while still not super) so it's no surprise to me at all.

still sucks that they're closing, but we can do better. williamsburg and carroll gardens both have better restaurant scenes than park slope. we deserve better.
  • I suppose now would be the best time to mention that Provini is brilliant (and super tasty).
  • yes, provini IS in fact delicious.

we need more places like provini, lot 2 and get fresh table and market and lots less like miracle grill, sette and star of india.

I am surprised because the place was packed all the time for brunch, that is why!

Don't like Sette at all or Sotto Voce for that matter, where is Provini again? Is that the new place up on 8th Avenue?
  • quite frankly i'm surprised Sette is still in business.

Isn't there enough artery-clogging red meat on offer in this neighborhood already? You've got Applewood, Blue Ribbon, Stone Park, and any number of greasy burger joints that strike terror into the pure hearts of vegetarians. I'll tell you what a lot of people would welcome with open arms: an all-night tofu and alfalfa sprout emporium. Just fry up a goddamned steak already, or hop a bus to Peter Luger's.
  • That's too bad. I saw that Closed on Monday's sign and was hoping it wouldn't lead to permanent closing. I loved their brunch. It was always crowded, on weekends anyway. I wonder what happened unless it's the obvious.

I would love a great Steak restaurant. Not some greasy burger joint unless it was a drive-in 50's style. Park your car and eat a steak. Really drive liberals crazy.

Also too bad the Home Store near the Barber Shop is closing. She had some great stuff and was a very nice woman.
  • I liked Miracle Grill...their nachos and blood orange margaritas were always good, but that's all I ever got. The staff there was always nice; it's too bad they are losing jobs at the holidays.

I thought that was Korean fusion?
