Looking for meeting space — Brooklynian

Looking for meeting space

I am looking for an (evening) rental meeting space in Windsor Terrace for 35-40 people, c. 3 hours, chairs included or not. Needed for condominium annual meeting mid-Nov-early Dec date tbd. Because of one Board member's religious affiliation, this cannot be held in a church. All suggestions welcome--thanks!

  • can you use a Knights of Columbus hall? Because I think there is one in WT, although I feel like I haven't seen it there in a few years, so maybe it's gone
  • Church meetings usually take place in a rec room, not in the same space as the altar. No one should have a problem with that. Question is whether or not a church will allow such a meeting.
  • What about the Corrigan-Kiernan Post 8160 VFW?

Enzo's back room will seat 40

Is Cynthia King's Dance Studio free any evening? OR Terrace Dance Studio?
  • Thanks for the good suggestions! I have a phone # for Corrigan-Kiernan Post 8160, will call and see how that goes--saw them open once and it would be a great space. Enzo's mmmmmmaybe. Would the meeting go better with pizza? I haven't been inside either dance studio but also have their contact info. Churches can offer space but unfortunately we cannot do that because of one board member's religious restrictions. Wish me luck...[/code]
  • Meetings always go better with pizza (and drinks)!
  • My club regularly uses the Knights of Columbus on 10th avenue off of Prospect Park Southwest. They have tables and chairs but the interior is very Archie Bunker. There is usually someone there most evenings to inquire about renting or you can try the deli across the street, they might have contact info.
  • If OP can't do a church they might not be able to K of C either
  • Thanks for this suggestion! KofC has never been open when I've walked by it!

Exactly. The Knights of Columbus are a Catholic society.
  • So, did you find a meeting place? Where and how much?
  • Yes, McFadden Bros American Legion Post 1380
290 Prospect Park West (at 18th Street)

    2 hours = $200

Meeting is week of Dec. 7 so can't report on the experience yet.

    Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
  • Update: The meeting space is upstairs, and past a few empty kegs on the turn of the stairs, from the McFadden Post's downstairs bar area--it's the old-fashioned and proverbial modest back room gathering place! Tables, chairs, a lecturn, all were supplied.... and perfect for our needs. We brought refreshments with the permission of the space rental person. Will do it again next year.
