Robbery on St. Johns bet Nostrand and Rogers — Brooklynian

Robbery on St. Johns bet Nostrand and Rogers

I know don't know if she was mugged or her house was robbed, but I just drove down St. Johns and saw a crying woman surrounded by police officers and being consoled.

I asked a guy walking down the street what happened and he said "She got robbed."

This is terrible.

  • 2 muggings on st. marks sun and Monday. tis the season. Dont go out without yer pit bull.
  • Are these robberies happening to people in brownstones or big buildings? Cause I can definitely imagine a newcomer moving into a building getting robbed. Not that it's right, or that it should happen, but when I moved here there were some seedy characters who kept asking me and my gf if "we needed help moving our stuff in". Yes, yes come take a gander at our laptops, stereos, bikes and flat screen TVs. Not to blame the victim; they probably didn't let anyone into their place; in any case, if it was a big building, with the right "characters" I could definitely see this happening regularly.
  • if it's "tis the season" now (rain, cold) i can't wait until the weather warms back up.

Doesn't the neighborhood get even crazier in the summer w/all the kids out of school w/nothing to do?
  • It does. I was being facetious.
Tho, I think the season poster was referring to was the combination of economic desperation + the "I need some money for the holidays" holidays.
  • Anything near Nostrand scares me. I know that's totally irrational, but something about the number of people loitering on that street is disturbing. I doubt most of those people live in the immediate area.
  • uhm...i got mugged in broad day light outside on a corner not even trying to go into a building so i dont think it matters what real estate you are entering so much
  • Please write to the mayor’s office and police chief for more recourses for crown heights. Start a tenants association. Just because we don’t live in Soho or south of eastern parkway doesn’t we do not have equal rights. There are police on every corner down there. We only want to share the resources.
Call the police when you see a problem no matter the size. Get police reports. The reports go into a database/ Algorithm that show we need more support. Make sure you report crime no matter how small.
