Personally, I'm leaning toward paint because I think marker will adhere to it better.

Meanwhile, I am pleased to announce that my relationship with the building's Super will once again pay off. ...excellent leftovers from a recent electrical project!
All I will need to build is a wood base, perhaps one with wheels so I can easily transport to Sharlene's; the pipe is heavy because it is thick and made of galvanized tin/steel.
There will be no need for Aluminum foil.
People will still be able to mark it up with permanent markers and fake bacon.
Ultra cute dog is included in picture so viewers can get a sense of scale of the available pipes, and to appease Dude's many fans.

my sensitive darlings -- i hope you will tell me if it's not okay to have your picture taken at all, even if it's posted (FB/flickr) without your name. sometimes you are collateral damage in a group shot, you know.
'course, if it's anything like last year, i'll be too sauced to take a competent snapshot anyway. -
