Best Adult Sled — Brooklynian

Best Adult Sled

Okay, last year really sucked as far as snowfall is concerned. This year, things are looking better. Does anyone have any suggestions on sleds? I have one (unused due to lack of snow last year) and want to get one for Current Wife.

Thanks,
-anthony

  • The only sled I ever like to use are those plastic round ones that are great for sliding down hills (Although I broke a finger going down Dead Man's Hill in Bklyn Heights). Otherwise we used to take a big piece of cardboard. Most toy stores have them and Target had them last year.

ETA- Congrats on the wedding! Wishing lots of years of love and happiness.
  • me too, the saucers. easy to carry up a hill and fast as heck, and pretty dangerous since the only way to stop it is to throw yourself overboard. perfect.
  • I've found saucers to be the best too, but you really need a metal one if they still make them. They have a lower frictional coefficient that allows you to fly down the hill. If I remember correctly, the red metal ones are the fastest. Red's the fastest color.
  • Subject: sled

It's all about the snow tubes. They totally rock and deflate when you're done for the season.
    They're definitely my favorite!!
  • Meet Zipfy - The Downhill Racing Sensation!

Experience the ride of your life on any type of snow, from powder to packed. Just sit down, grab the central lever and push off. Lean over to turn and feel the exhilaration of carving giant slalom turns as you speed through the snow. Play the video to see what action packed fun a Zipfy can be.

Grab a Zipfy and get out there - the snow's waiting! Join in the fun and experience the thrills and spills of the Zipfy for yourself then post your 'downhill speed ace' videos on youtube! Better yet, get your friends together, stage your own races and feel the adrenaline rush. This has got to be the most fun you can have sitting on your butt!

    Brooklynian notwithstanding, of course.

  • That Zipfy thing certainly does look like an "adult" sled... she may not need her current husband anymore!
  • I have a roll-up rectangle of heavy blue plastic with a cut out handle (obtained at an upstate NY hardware store) best.sled.ever.

And it's easy to store. I prefer it to the flying saucer.
  • shower curtains stolen from the freshman dorm bathrooms worked really well in college.
  • I've heard reports of up to 10" of snow for the weekend. Might be wishful thinking, but if it's true, where is the best part of the park to carry my sled?
