Habanero Sauce

Does anybody know where I can find Marie Sharp's in the Slope? I'm looking for the one labeled "fiery hot" on this link:

http://www.mariesharps.us/index.html

I know I can find it at Kalustyan's and could order it online......but am hoping to find it locally. I was in Fairway on Wednesday, and they didn't have it.

  • I haven't actually tried that brand of habanero sauce. Is it especially good?

I assume there must be other habanero sauces available in the neighborhood.
  • Yes. It is especially good.

Also, I want to send some to Tortola to my hostess/bestie as she can't get it locally.
  • I want to say try Associated on 5th Ave only because the Associated on Myrtle and Hall has every sauce ever made including Sticky Fingers Habanero and Carolina Sweet sauces which my sister searched for after eating at the restaurant by the same name in Myrtle Beach. She tried all the gourmet stores, Fairway, Eden and it was in the Associated. Of course when she went to the super Walmart they had them there also about $2.00 a bottle less.
  • thanks, Arlette, I'll check there.
  • Not so close to home, but the Western Beef on Empire (just past Flatbush on the east side of Prospect Park) has a lot of Caribbean products. I got my dad a huge supply of whatever sauce he had in Jamaica that was really expensive to order online.

I think even at the fancy meals in Belize we were always offered some Marie's. They couldn't eat a meal without it.
  • ^thanks, OQ. I've never been inside of Western Beef, but I know where it is
  • When we lived in Crown Heights, I used to trek down to WB with my granny cart from St. Johns and Franklin to do my shopping b/c that store had everything on my lists and great prices on produce. It smells when you first walk in and check out takes a while, but once you accept that, it's a great store for the area. Plus it has parking for those with wheels.

Oh, and there is a Popeyes across the street and I <3 Popeyes with all of my sourthern soul.
  • I'm going to have to check it out. I have a car, so not hard for me to swing by. I just thought it looked so dumpy on the outside that I didn't bother to find out if they had good things inside.

I did check a few places today during my errands - D'Vine Taste, Back to the Land and Eagle Provisions. No Marie Sharp's
  • Ok, I'm really curious. I've never heard of this brand. What makes it so special: extra hot? Extra spices? Vinegary or Smokey?

Flexi if you get some for yourself I need to come over with some chips and dips to check it out. My curiosity is peaked!
  • It's not so much that it's very hot - at least not in a "pure heat" way. There are plenty of "hotter" sauces. It's more layered. I'd say smokey rather than vinegary.

We put it in/on a bunch of stuff down there.

My friend is a huge hot sauce "expert" and she had this for the first time in Belize and was hooked ever since.
  • I was in here(see below) about a month ago, they had a few different Marie Sharps sauces.

  • ^ooooh. Thanks, BrianZ. Great first post. We'll keep you  =D>

    I will check it out.
  • SCORE!

I called them and they have several varieties and it seems like they are selling them at list price (not jacked up).

    Yay!

I haven't been in this place in a long time. Mama - it's right next door to Belleville.
  • Was in the city, so stopped by Kalustyan's and picked some up. They only carry "fiery hot" (gold label) and "Belize hot". They said they think the "hot" (white label) is being discontinued.
