March along Bedford avenue — Brooklynian

March along Bedford avenue

just saw a bunch of young black youths marching down Bedford avenue and avneue R. There was a van following them with what looked like a dominican flag.

They are about 200 strong.

Anyone has any idea what this is about?

  • About 3 hours ago I saw a group (maybe 200-300 strong) marching north on 4th Ave in south Park Slope. They too were trailed by a couple vans, this time with Mexico's flag on their hoods. The group was escourted by two police cars in the front and back.

    Coincidence? I wonder...
  • Saturday was the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of Mexico. Many churches with Mexican parishioners have held marches this weekend. They are usually preceeded by Mass, and are followed by a reception with tamales, hot chocolate and music.
