Hey, we won 51 dollars! Don't be a h8r!
ETA: No more Brooklynian outings on a trivia night. Especially when you got a bunch of nerds in the group.lol!
Oh damn! BTW.. another trip to James for burgers soon? or Cornelius if Em wants a charred beef puck -
^^ Yes. We'll wait for my BFF to return from his journey. If he wants to go,that is.
Any burger place is fine with me! -
Sure. We also haven't done Soda in a while. They make a tasty burger
-
Yes! Soda. That's the one ya'll were talking about. That's the one I wanna try.Soda burger.
-
Soda makes a good burger, but Carni makes an even better blue potato kugle. Good thing I just ate a ton of it, and mexican lasagna.

It's weird to be a newbie to this kind of thing as it's like being on the other side of the fence. I had a pleasant enough time sharing three drinks with y'll, although the nature of the medium isn't super conducive to feeling at home in the first visit I've realized. Pourquoi? I showed up and got yelled at in the first five minutes for not wanting to give my real name. The person then realized they'd gone too far and told me to make up a name. Most everyone was introducing themselves by their real names and not their logins, which I felt was weird. Then I got mistaken for the journalist and apparently that was a bad person to be.
All in all, not particularly newbie/lurker friendly but that doesn't mean I'll stop reading/posting/attending an occasional event. -
Hah, sounds like people were nervous about a journalist attending.
Most of the time at outings (with perhaps a few exceptions) I find myself wanting to use peoples' online names anyway, it helps me get a handle on meeting everyone and attributing the proper context. Otherwise I feel like I have this odd internal database lookup that I have to do to match hyooman name with online username and then load in context.
So if you see me with an odd look on my face at outings, it's either that I've had a few :drunken: or that I'm maxin' current proc and ram resources with open queries :shaking2: . Or both.
Hee. -
seespaces, sorry that happened (and that i didn't meet you, but i wasn't there terribly long). in defense of the real name bit: i always feel weird when i tell a person my real name and the person doesn't reciprocate. in person, a first name isn't THAT much information to share, is it? i mean, don't you have to do that all the time in life? it can feel to me like the person who won't tell me a real name doesn't want to actually know me.
then i end up with the the data processing problem jeffrey refers to, but oh well.
at any rate, hope to meet you at a future event.
to all those i did see: happy festivus! glad to know you! very sorry i missed the trivia. -
seespaces, I'm sorry you didn't feel welcomed....but I agree with SweetTea. Any of the "regulars" can tell you that I am more paranoid than most about my "real identity", but they all know my first time (and, once I felt comfortable, many now know my last name too). I'm not sure what your first name is, but I am fairly sure mine is more unique than yours. Like most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it.
I am thrilled to have finally met Stacey and Booklaw......I didn't get a chance to talk to Anthony because he was at the other end of the table....... -
Seespaces, we don't use anyone's real name on the boards. You will always be referred to as "Seespaces".And I was the one who thought you were the journalist and I was the one to tell you to make up a name (but not the one who asked your name) cuz I saw that you were a bit shy and uneasy when she asked you.
Umm..I don't know if you remember me,I was the one sitting across from you in the beginning struggling with eating the sandwich...heh....which poor Anthonycm had to endure watching.lol.Which led to the question "Do you always struggle eating(maybe it was finishing, dunno) your food" I think I answered you , Anthonycm...If I didn't ---> I usually struggle to finish the food.Last night I was struggling to start eating and continue eating bcuz of..ahmm. But I did finish half so yaaay! -
Thanks. I know you only use login names here, it was the tone of the demand that bothered me, not the demand itself. I ended up telling people where I work, live, and pay for rent. Like I said, the nature of the medium doesn't lend itself to a quick familiarity, so I had low expectations and tried not to focus on anything uncomfortable. See you all online.

Seespaces, we're still working on Em.
she swings between shanking people and singing about SpongeBob, you'll get used to it. -
^^What's up? I didn't do anything to anyone. I was good thankyouverymuch!
