TD Bank on Park Circle NOISE! — Brooklynian

TD Bank on Park Circle NOISE!

So we just moved the hood' and our apt faces Prospect Park Southwest, and the park. However the what we now call "EVIL" TD bank is right out our window. Every morning starting at 8 am school buses use it to park between routes, and we hear a never-ending stream of beeping from their backing up alert. Then every evening around 5 pm the chaos starts in the drive through window. Cars back up out into the street and a the honking and screaming matches begin. We have seen several altercations and had to call the police once already. Our happy quiet home lives have become a nightmare. Other than calling 311 and the bank, we have done both, we wondering if anyone else had ideas. There is only so much noise you can live with. With all apt buildings surrounding the bank, it seems like the bank should close the drive through if they cannot control their customers.

Wish the former tenants had warned us!

  • welcome to the hood and sorry to hear about your noise situation. I live not to far from you but didn't realize the school buses did that. I hate the design of that TD bank lot, & I was hoping the newly redesigned Park Circle would alleviate some of the problems...guess not.

Overall i think all of PPSW needs to improve - double parking, speeding, loud bikes, and an endless stream of loud, empty buses really takes away from what should be a more pleasant road
  • The only time that piece of real estate was a benign influence on the neighborhood was back in the early 1990s when an abandoned gas station occupied the space. However, around 1994 the old gas station was renovated and a large self-service station emerged. After that it became Commerce Bank.

The new traffic circle seems to have been inspired by one of the circles of hell.
  • Without getting started on the redesign of the circle, works better for peds, bicycles and hourse, is still crap for cars.

You best bet is to get new windows. Since it sounds like you are renting try looking into City Quiet http://www.citiquiet.com/ or one of the other inside windows. I know from experience what a huge difference good windows can make
  • Subject: td mess

The bank's parking lot is a ZOO.

    Constant traffic and arguments.

    Something needs to be done.

  • Just curious. Has the problem regarding TD Bank at Park Circle been resolved with a dedicated turning lane as per this article. How's the circle overall now?

  • have you thought about finding out whether the school buses are supposed to be hanging out in the parking lot? you could start there?

TD is a pretty accomodating bank and i'd imagine with some clever emailing you might get yourself a smidge more peace and quiet
