Snow in Park Slope
I'd like to ask PS residents their thoughts and plans for this weekend's report of a big snowfall. (an attempt to lighten up the board after all those rants lately)
I'm heading out to mail gifts, get groceries for a soup (soup recs are welcome!). How are you preparing, did you buy your salt bags yet?

Dude, Mrs. Why and I are constantly looking out the window.
We have a case of Ramen on hand and a small propane camping stove in case it turns into a blizzard.
Bring it! -
We're now under a blizzard warning, so you may get your wish....
-
Am going to start a new provocative thread just to watch another meltdown :-)
(actually just re-added Showtime and am doing a Weeds, Californication and Dexter marathon - NO SPOILERS, PLEASE) -
I plan to beat my girlfriend while doubleparked without a note.

^only counts if you do it with a stroller, in a bike lane, while illuminated by floodlights.

while dressed indecently and passing through the Double Windsor (before 5, of course) on the way. -

deal ! -
Where is this big snow storm? I keep looking at the weather maps and it looks like the storm has been above us for the past three hours.
-
It just started.
-
that'll learn ya.
-
Yes, though some might say the flakes started to hit this board yesterday, I am just starting to see them outside in the air now.
-
Tiny flakes. I hope it sticks!
-
Just got back from Key Food and it is WILD in there with people stocking up ahead of the storm! A bunch of us were laughing about it in line because it seems so over reactive. (I wasn't there to stock up, and it reminded me a blizzard is on the way.) Anyway, I see the snow starting to come down! I'm so happy...I love blizzards!
If you don't really really really need groceries, stay away from Key for the rest of the afternoon! -
Might the power actually go out here?? I thought that only happened in places where the lines are above ground and trees fall on them or cars slide into the poles. My folks once went 3 weeks without power in their rural section of Arkansas--2 ice storms in a row, temps in the teens, and all in a place that rarely sees below freezing temps. It was crazy! We'd never been more than a week without power there and that was almost always in the summer after a tornado/near tornado downed lines.
I've been doing laundry--we'll have plenty of clean socks and blankets to keep us warm. And since I just got back in town last night, the kitchen is not exactly stocked! Maybe it's time to order a few pizzas to keep us full for the weekend although I'm still not convinced of a blizzard, if I even know what that means

I don't think we've ever lost power due to snow, and I'm talking storms with over two feet of snow. Yay! Bring it on! -

FUCK! (pardon my french)

OK, maybe 5th ave Market at Berkeley will have to suffice. :-( -
The French don't say "fuck". I don't know how we ended up with that one. Try "Merde!" or something similar.
Key Foods on 5th was already a zoo yesterday. Am glad I am stocked up already. I can see people going up and down my street to the markets with granny carts.
Coming down fast now....and sticking! I might have to let the kittehs into the yard later to see how they react -

They have power in rural Arkansas? :P -

I'd go with "enculé!" -
Our Keyfood on Washington was fine. We stocked up on all the essentials: booze, hors devours, cookies, and the makings for my chicken stew with white wine and swiss cheese in pastry puff cups. Yum.
Got our On Demand, our dumputers- we're set.

hmm i just realize there is no cursing in Chinese. its implied. like to say your mother would be like the f word. or literally word death would be just translated as damn it.
-
Crap (how about that one Flexi?), Key foods on 5th was a clusterfuck
I only walked by, I have enough things to make a pasta dinner, no need to endure the lines.
Take pics of the kittah in da snow, flex! -
I'm going to shovel snow on top of Snickers car.
-
I should probably go buy some food since I have none, but I dont forsee things being closed tomorrow since its all coming in overnight. I plan to go out and show my dog his first snow in a few minutes, and to continue that tomorrow!! I also may make moug make me some eggnog (pppsst- where's teh mougs?)

C-Town was busy, but not atypical for a Saturday morning. However, the urgency with which people were moving/shopping was different. Save on Fifth had QUITE the line (they have salt bags), and CVS was all jammed up (as usual, but this time they had three cashiers working instead of just one).
My mom's in Delaware - she says that it will seem like it's petering out but then it will come back with a vengeance (huge flakes, winds). -
Umm...I like snow. :bounce:

i am partial to "putain! ça me fait chier!"...really, my favorite...
snow has indeed started but it's that icy, granulated weird snow...plus it's uber windy. if people got me excited for multiple inches of snow (hey, i would settle for 2 or 3) and all we get is a dusting, i will not be content.
Howdy, Stranger!
