brokers? apts? — Brooklynian

brokers? apts?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
Hey, I'm starting the moving nightmare...finally gave notice at my overpriced PS apt that is falling apart--sparks and smoke regularly come out of switchplates, plumbing is from the 50s, among other charms. (Anyone looking: don't move to a place on 8th ave/union that is huge, with lots of old gorgeous details and a big library that looks perfect for a speakeasy.)

wondering if anyone has had good experiences with brokers lately? Any recommendations? Or if anyone has a no-fee apt coming avail in the next few mos? We have to give 3 mos notice so we'll probably be moving for nov.1. We are basically looking for something with good light, high end appliances & plumbing, central AC, near the park (ideally), 1-2 bedrooms with outdoor space.

  • I saw somethiing no fee coming up in Windsor Terrace a block from the park. I know that isn't the slope. It is a duplex, with a sunny terrace, new kitchen with marble floors, hardwood floors throughout, dishwasher, washer dryer inside apartment and skylight for $1700. If interested, I can dig up the listing and forward. (came up on our neighborhood board)
  • We have very nice new neighbors finishing their renovation soon. They're moving into the garden rental for a few months while the rest is being finished, but I think it will be available once they move upstairs. Whoever moves in will get a brand-new apartment. I don't know anything about garden access. They put in central air, so I imagine it covers the first floor too. I'm pretty sure they re-plumbed the whole house. I can check the availability and the rent if you want.

I'm on Sterling Place in PH .
  • Thanks for your kind replies! I would be really interested to hear the rent/availability for the place you mentioned, Iowagirl, and for the listing you heard about as well Kensingtonmom--or if it's too much trouble you can point me in the direction of the neighborhood board?
  • I'll ask them the deal the next time I see them. I think they're moving in this weekend, actually. I'll pm you their response.
  • I sent you the listing.
  • I just pm'd you.
