Not sure what is going on. It sounds like there was an issue at Church. I'm sure some of you were there but there was a lady walking up and down the 7th avenue station platform telling everyone the situation as the MTA did nothing to alert anyone. Thank you ma'am.

  • I was there. It was a lot of fun walking in the sub-zero wind to 4th Åve.
  • Has anyone ever signed up for the MTA text alerts? I just signed up. Does anyone else have this set up? Does it actually work?
  • Love the fact that when the train breaks down the MTA has to resort to the :"town crier" method of informing us.
  • I'm signed up for the MTA emails, and despite coming from the MTA...at least the alerts are reliable ;) NY1 also reported the delay, so I don't think its totally accurate to say that the information was unavailable.

Having said that, it still took me an hour and 20 minutes to get to Midtown.
  • well what happened. i heard on the news that the G was suspended and when i got to bergen and smith to catch the coneyisland bound F a lady told me nothing was running. so i decided to move forward and when i got down the stairs, the platform was crowded. so before i swiped my card, i was trying to listen to the platform agent and ther was word of shuttle buses, then the F came. and i was glad. still dont know what happened. someone said the G derailed at church ave.
  • One "feature" of the MTA alerts is that you can specify what lines to get alerted about. So I get a lot about the R and F skipping stations in Queens that don't mean much to me. Usually when there is an alert relevant to my ride, I receive it while I am already stuck on the train, though occasionally they have been timely enough for me to divert my walk to a different station. I was on the F that hit someone at Smith-9th last month. The alert got to me about 15 minutes after the incident. It will be more useful when they add the "read my mind and tell me about what I really need to know" feature.
