What did you have, Belzjm?
-
drunken man noodles, vegetable dumplings, bbq chicken with sticky rice.
all above par.
tried a bite of the curry chicken as well, and it was really tasty. -
I wrote them a glowing Yelp review like two nights ago. Also had the Drunken Man Noodles/Pad Kee Mao and it was great. I had the spring rolls too- they were perfectly acceptable. The noodles were definitely the main attraction. Deeeelicious.

Is it better than Song? I have a dinner date at Song on Monday but could change...
-
it's better than song, yes.
BUT the atmosphere isn't quite the same as song. the music is a little weird at mee thai, but things like that don't bother me when the food is especially good.
mee thai is REAL thai food done right.
song is more pleasant for a date, however i think. if it's a romantic date anyway. although song can be loud also... -
I don't think I've tried Song. I have been to Mee Thai about 10 times. I always get the Drunken Noodle with chicken. It's the best. Avoid their Chicken Satay, it's horrible: chicken jerky basically. I've tried some sort of short rib appetizer and it was good. But I keep sticking to their Drunken Noodle, I'm a creature of habit.

Mee Thai is great - very good food, good portions, with a much, much more laid-back atmosphere than Song. If you're into Song's whole trendy vibe, then go there, you probably won't enjoy Mee Thai. But if you're looking for a much more relaxed meal, in a place where you can actually hold a conversation without yelling, then go to Mee Thai.

Mee Thai has zero ambiance and what Jimmy is saying above is true. You can talk and have a quiet evening there, but it's not romantic. I usually do take out, but they do have a sit in special right now: it's either a free spring roll or maybe a beer (they keep changing it)

Not to argue semantics, but there's a difference between "zero" ambiance and a pleasant atmosphere. Yes, you're definitely right, it's not a first date kinda place (or third or fourth date...), but it's also not one of those greasy Chinese holes-in-the-wall with a few dirty tables thrown out front of a counter. To me, that's zero ambiance. Mee Thai is a casual, comfortable, quiet place to have a good meal with good company.
We love taking bigger groups of friends there because you can always get a table big enough to fit everyone, you can hear each other talk from the end of said big table, and you can get good plentiful food for relatively cheap. -
Damn your semantics!! These are the internets!!
Yes, you are completely correct Jimmy
Mpmav1, where did you end up going? What did you order? -
It's actually for this upcoming Monday. I'm thinking Song simply as it's a dinner with a (hopefully) future boss/colleague. So I'm thinking more atmosphere focused.
-
Damn you all!!!!
I just got the beef drunken noodle for dinner. The power of suggestion!
Howdy, Stranger!
