Where to find radiator humidifiers?

I'm looking for the old fashioned radiator humidifiers to get some moisture back into the air in my apt... these are typically ceramic or clay containers (but may be metal) that hang onto free standing radiators and evaporate the water as the radiator heats up

With brooklyn being so full of old housing stock, which is mostly heated with hot water or steam, i would've thought these would be easy to find but no one seems to know what i'm talking about at hardware stores or Lowes...

they're out there, but i have to say that they work about as well as putting a bowl of water on the radiator, and for some reason they really smell bad.

I've always thought that brooklynpotter could make a mint manufacturing air/radiator humidifiers! I think there's a big market for them in NYC.

I third the bowl (or pot) of water. Not every problem requires a made-in-China product as a solution.

yeah, but bowl on radiator is so uuuugly

i use a pyrex dish right now, and i'm worried that my dog will knock it down (or i'll knock it down)
