I could post this in the Fort Green section but I wanted to share it with my PS peeps. The Brooklyn Flea is moving into the Williamsburg Bank building until March:

  • Such a gorgeous building to be overrun with sweat socks and food smells.

it was much better when it was known as the "House of Pain"?

...a building that looks like a giant upside down tooth that housed mostly dentists?
  • It'll be overrun with hip silk screen tshirts and artisanal candy - the Flea is not one of those tube sock fiestas. I kinda dig it...

Plus if it's in that ground floor bank space with all the blue and gold and tile and what have you . . . purty.

pitu is right, no sweat socks. artisans (food, craft, art, design) are selling there.

i am selling there. please come by to say hello.
  • Will some of the regular food vendors be there?

Am I the only one who wants to put on a ball gown and spin around that floor? :)

Do you still have those small "dipping" small bowls?
I have to tell you that I got so many compliments on your small milk bottle that I put candy canes in, I have decided to leave it out all year round!
  • stacey, i have them at my studio. i'd love for you to stop by!

I would love to have a party there!
  • If anyone has a reason to get events info, I'd be curious about how much it rents out for....

  • I went there yesterday - it's about 2 blocks from my house. My daughter bought some jewelry and "vintage" stuff. I got a couple of t-shirts. The food is good, especially the Asian hot dogs. I've sent my daughter back today to pick up some lobster sandwiches.

WTF is up with the pickles though? Is this the new hipster sensation?

    those pickles sell like crazy!
  • Pickles are as NY as bagels and pastrami. Love them! Is the huarache stand still there BP?
  • downstairs i'm pretty sure. i was upstairs under a blanket, we had no heat. the pace was packed--great for everyone--but the ceilings were too high to trap any of the temperature.
  • if you aren't into to flea market items, this is worth the trip just to see the old bank space.

4 ft thick vault doors, etc.

The Mrs and I stopped by Sun AM
  • the ceiling is gorgeous
  • I'm going to check out the hipster pickles next time. We just thought it was funny that there were two pickle stands right next to each other.

Just had the lobster sandwich - expensive but delicious! I love having the Flea a couple of blocks from my house.
  • i'd choose mcclures over ricks. (i'm generally sandwiched between the two--no pun intended--and the the mcclures rock)
  • I'm curious...how much was the lobster sandwich?
