Anna, I've lived in NC twenty-one yrs but away from B'klyn since the 60's, I went to Holy Family School, I did live on Prospect Ave bet 3-4th ave. Most of my family (before me) came from 21st street.

  • Thanks Patsy for so kindly volunteering me to help plan the AC trip. Well, I say bring it on!! I'll do it. I don't have any comps anywhere - I cry if I lose more than $20 but, seriously, if we're interested I'll get something together.

Anna - you come too - this way you'll have an excuse to come east again!

    Jeanette - it's Shoprite's annual CAN-CAN sale - now Shoprite does the can-can, selling all the can-cans...

I should go but the few things I need will wind up costing me...we all know how that goes!

    Back to work.
  • HELLO EVERYBODY

    HOWS THINGS TODAY
  • Hey Guys and Gals:

Just popping in again to say hello. It's funny, yesterday "Miss Grimes" popped into my mind. Does anyone remember her? She was the steno teacher. I can't remember if she taught at John Jay or IS 10. I'm pretty sure it was John Jay. Anyway, she was such a character. She had this bleached blond hair which she wore back in a pony tail and she wore big black rimmed glasses. I remember she always wore very fashionable clothes that fit her very well. I also remember to this day that she told us she was engaged to Peter Falk the actor (Colombo) when she was younger. I found that so fascinating at the time. She was a great teacher and great story teller. If I remember correctly I think she had a sourthern accent. I loved her class and always did well. I guess you could say she made me what I am today - a legal secretary (lol), although it's been quite a long time since I took steno notes. Just some random memories of the good old days.

  • It's been a long time since I've posted anything. Happy New Year to everyone.

Patsy I was so sorry to hear about your Dad.

Barbara - Ms. Grine was from Jay - that little southern belle -- I too am a legal secretary - I remember her favorite word to do in shorthand was precious -- she would tell us that everytime we had to write it. Great memory - thanks.

I hope that everyone is doing well and I will definitely go to AC - Harrah's is my favorite.

    Gray!
  • OMG PATSY
Did we not just talk about so many people being sick and passing. My good friend Annette her Dad just died this morning. It has not stopped. Every week since your Dad i have been in a funeral parlor. CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY
  • Hey Patsy: Thanks so much for the lovely complement. Way back when when I was wearing my hair very, very short and spikey the guy that I was dating said I reminded him of a famous Hollywood person - David Bowie! That's the God's honest truth. Needless to say, I dropped him pretty quick.

Hey Ronnie: Was it Grine or Grimes? Do you remember the Peter Falk story she told?

Also who remembers Mrs. Lasky the science teacher? Very tall and attractive.
PAUL : I know you remember her. She used to sit on top of one of the front desks with her legs up on the seat. I remember vividly how you and a few other guys would sit right in front to get a bird's eye view!!!!!! (lol) She got pregnant and left. I know all the guys missed her.
  • PATSY (MIELE) KIRK wrote: HEY CUZ.. C U ON HERE TONITE DURING A.I . :)
I WILL BE HERE HOW ABOUT MICHAEL PINTO????

I'M HOPING HE COMES ON...IT'S UP TO JOE & STACY... KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED...WE HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH HIM LAST SEASON...:)
  • Barbara - her name was Grine -- she never told us the Peter Falk story - but you are right she was a great story teller as well as a good teacher. I do not remember Mrs. Lasky. I had Mr. Zutler for Science - he was about 100 years old then.

Terry sorry to hear about your friend Marie.

Helen I hope that your husband is ok.
  • Hi Anna,
No need to be concerned about exactly where you lived or when. I am an Old Goat who left the slope in 1960. Lived in NJ until 1997 when I moved to Florida. Did not go to school with anyone on the blog. I lived on 12th Street and am about 100 years older then most on here. I went to PS124, PS 40's and MANUAL before it became John Jay. They welcomed me on here anyway despite our differences. If they put up with me you have very little to worry about. Just keep up your memories about Prospect Park, Germains and the old movie theaters from the hood and you will fit in just fine. :-'
