How else do you propose that they stop people from walking through these metal detectors with explosives under their clothes? That's what drives me nuts about things like this - protesting about your right to privacy instead of worrying about your right not to be blown up in a plane. Come up with a working alternative if there's such a problem with the new security.

security is a joke for the masses. you really think those folks standing around are doing their jobs?
its only for show. they haven't caught anyone with their security. nobody. they caught a guy for kissing after the fact. they caught the underwear bomber after the fact. they frisk little kids with same names on no fly list.
once people realize these security measures are nothing more than illusions of making the masses feel safe about flying, nothing more, not actual safety then everyone would be better off. -
From 1010 WINS- Travel is a hassle for an 8-year-old Cub Scout from New Jersey.
That's because Mikey Hicks shares the same name of a person who has drawn the suspicion of the Homeland Security Department.
His mother tells The New York Times she sensed trouble when her son was a baby and she couldn't get a seat for him at a Florida airport. She says airline officials explained his name "was on the list.''
He was patted down as a 2-years-old at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The newspaper says the boy's name appears to be among 13,500 on the "selectee'' list, which sets off a high level of security screening.
Transportation Security Administration spokesman James Fotenos says in the coming months, the agency will cross-check names with birth dates and gender.

It's all security theater.
Since all previously successful bombing have been with solid state explosives, the TSA should ban all solids from passenger carry on baggage.
It's been said before, but only two things have made flying safer since 9/11: the reinforcement of cockpit doors, and the fact that passengers know now to resist hijackers. -

It's high time al-Qaeda went back to trying to pull off some of the easy stuff like driving a truck full of nitrates into a monument, so that we can get our sense of risks (and boarding time) back in proportion. Either that or aim really big, like setting off a sizeable earthquake somewhere by organizing a hydrofracking project in the wrong place.
Howdy, Stranger!
