Barbara-I totally understand where you are coming from. I have been a smoker for 43 years. I never wanted to quit before. My wife & kids would constantly ask me to quit and I would always say, "leave me alone, this is my only vice". I don't drink or do drugs. Now I am finally at a point where I do want to quit but finding it very difficult to do. Sure, I can easily make excuses like the stress of running our baseball teams or the concerns of gaining weight after quitting. There are products on the market that will help and people on this blog that will offer encouragement. When Robert Manzione found out I was still smoking he took it upon himself to get a full set of nicotine patches for me. Although I have not started the program I will be forever grateful to him for his kind and generous display of friendship. I am smoking a cigarette as I write this and hoping that we can start some sort of support group among ouselves to quit smoking once and for all. I have never really tried before or really wanted to. Maybe we can push each other.

Well it's looks like Danny and Barbara will be co-ordinating the "stop smoking" support group!!! lol
At least you two can encourage each other. -
I know there are a few more on here we just need to get it going. I would like to do this away from the blog so as not to take up too much space with this but come back to the blog for questions and updates.

Hey Danny:
Thanks for the encouragement. I had the patch. Put it on for 1 day. I didn't like the way it made me feel. Kind of jittery. But that was just probably withdrawal. Anyway, I took it off. I have the nicotine gum in my closet. I thought maybe I could supplement that for every other cigarette so I could do it slowly but then I read the directions and it said do not smoke when you take this gum. So I would have to do it cold turkey. I don't know if I'm ready. But with the recent problems I've been having that I put in my other post, I am getting scared. I haven't tried Chantex yet, but other people told me they got strange side effects from it. I went for hypnosis. The guy gave me my money back. (That's the truth.) My husband has given up on me. But I know how it upsets him that I am still smoking I wish there was some kind of magic pill that would completely make you not want to smoke. Good luck to you. I hope you can do it. -
P.S. I would be happy if we could start some kind of support group. Who else is game? Come on out you closet smokers!

I'm in, but I'm not a "closet" smoker......I smoke on the deck -
Hi Terry:
I hope you didn't take my advice the wrong way. You know we're not use
to you be down in the dumps so I thought I would slap it out of you.
Please don't think for one minute I don't know how you feel but I don't
like others feeling that way. For me I just ride it out myself and don't
talk to anyone about it. I keep a lot to myself. That has been a big
problem between me and Kenny. I just shut down. That's my way of
dealing with things. It may not be right but at this point who can change.
Please come back to your old self and lets have a good laugh. LOVE -
