Hey Terry:
I just looked back at your post. As far as putting on weight I have too. I would say 5-7 pounds which is a lot for me. Also, for some reason I am absolutely starving especially at night and I can't stop eating. At first I thought it was my acid reflux med. so I changed it last week. It's a little better but not great. I don't know what it is. I just can't stop eating at night and that's the worse for me, especially for my acid reflux. I've never had it this bad before like I have no control. A lot of my clothes are getting tight so I know it's time to pull in the reigns. Have a great weekend and try to relax and not think about anything. -

Hi guys - Oh boy so much to read. Just got home, I met my daughter after work and we went out...just got home...
First - I am a smoker!!!! I feel like I am in a AA meeting LOL LOL although I think having a support group is a great idea, I honestly don't think I am ready right now to even try quiting, but if you people start something who knows maybe that will help..
Anthony - Hope you feel better and insist on a doctors's appointment ASAP!!!!
Patsy - Happy Birthday to Natalie and I hope she is enjoying her vacation.
Suzie - The bathroom looks beautiful.....
Debbie - there was so much to read I forgot what brother is having a birthday today, I think you said Nick, so Happy Birthday Nick!!!
Barbara - Hope you feel better too....ever since I had that cold two weeks ago, I still have a terrible cough which makes me very nervous and I noticed that when I am laying down I can hear myself weezing (sp) I still a little congested.
Terry - Feel better and vent all you want, thats what we are here for,...
Hi to everyone else, I am so tired, I am going to lay down.
Hello Anna - sorry if I didn't respond earlier....
Goodnight -
The worst thing about smoking is that it rules your life. You are always thinking about that next cigarette. It controls your feelings and your actions. Instead of calming you, smoking keeps you constantly worried and anxious about your next smoke. People fear gaining weight, but that doesn't always happen. If it does, give yourself a break and after of 6 months of not smoking and eating a little more, go on Weight Watchers. It also robs you of your self-respect because you are always berating yourself about your lack of "willpower."
I stopped smoking when a friend, a former respiratory therapist, told me that the worst effect of smoking was not lung cancer, but COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder), because at least lung cancer kills you. COPD creates a horrible life for you. He said people had to be taken to the bathroom, and just the effort to get to the restroom required great strength and created exhaustion. Brushing one's teeth when one has COPD, he said, requires 15-20 minutes and leaves the person wiped out--he/she has to rest for 20 minutes afterwards. There is always the panic that you can't get enough air into your lungs.
This respiratory therapist scared me and helped me stop. I will never forget his stories. Keep in mind that the first two weeks are the hardest, and even though you may spend the rest of your life kinda wanting a cigarette, it is only a weak, occasional impulse--not like the deprivation you feel during those first two weeks. There is life after smoking and you will feel free and proud of yourself.
I smoked two and a half packs a day and never thought I could be without the cigarettes. It seems that everyone who smokes considers him/herself "different" in that others can stop smoking, but they can't. It isn't true. You, as every other former smoker did, can successfully stop and your lungs begin to repair immediately.
Finally, I think many people smoke because it connects them to a favorite person--mother, father, friends--and they think that stopping smoking will be a break of that important bond. It won't. Good luck to everybody trying to start living without cigarettes. Try Chantix which works well for some people, try hypnosis, try therapy, or just crumple up that pack and realize that you do not ever have to have another cigarette in your life. -
good morning all
speaking of showers i need one bad
i am so drained i cant think straight
people been calling me and i have not answered phone
in 2 days -
and by the way this smoker is too stressed to quit at this time
i quit the booze and other stuff 17 years ago and now my only vice
is cigarettes i know they are bad for me but hey with all thats
going on its the less of the evils
Howdy, Stranger!
