The Park Slope Food Coop is hosting a panel discussion featuring experts on the topic of safe food labeling and genetic engineering. Panelists will be Michael Potter, founder and CEO of Eden Foods and Dr. Michael Hansen, senior scientist at the Consumers Union. The event will be moderated by Nancy Romer, organizer of the Brooklyn Food Conference. Co-sponsored by the Safe Food Labeling committee of the Park Slope Food Coop, SOS Food/NYSAGE, PSUMC Social Action committee and the Park Slope Circle of the Brooklyn Food Conference.
Are you aware that under the watchful eyes of Deputy Commission Michael Taylor, the FDA declared GMO's (genetically modified organisms) "substantially equivalent" to conventional foods. Michal Taylor is now back at the FDA and rumor has it, he may be set to undo some of the wrongs perpetrated during his previous tenure.
