put another one on the board. feb 1st will be two months for me. reading the posts on here is unbelievable... everyone is telling the same story... posts to be continued....
  • I have contacted NY 1 as well and I am working on other outlets. This situation is akin to selling a faulty car (lemon law) or a bank/real estate agent suckering you into a sub prime mortgage; This world has ethics, rules and regulations and to witness Brooklyn Gold, brooklyn tillary and lalezarian exploit tenants and lie about the readiness of a building only to hide behind the guise of a construction rider is unacceptable. They need to be exposed regarding their predatory practices in as many forums, both public and private as possible. I have contacted NY 1 and the brooklyn borough presidents office, whose contact info. Are in earlier postings. By the way, does anyone have an executed lease agreement. They have been avoiding providing the executed lease; shady to say the least. I am not confident that these blank copies are even the same. If they have nothing to hide, why aren't they providing the executed copies. Its only a contract if
  • I was told that I would be provided a copy of my signed lease when I pick up my keys on moving day, which is supposed to be Jan 30th. If they don't have my keys for me that day, which is starting to seem more and more unlikely, I doubt they will have a copy of my lease either.

I am really looking forward to this whole mess going public as well. It will be in the best interests of the Lalezarian family to get everybody moved in as quickly as possible, both from a PR standpoint as well as a financial standpoint. As horrible as this situation is for everyone here, they must be losing money by not having these apartments occupied. Don't get me wrong, I could really care less that they are losing money, I'm much more concerned about all of us being homeless. But the longer they go with moving all of us in, the longer that will be before any of us start paying them more rent. So hopefully if the media can get involved, it might help speed up the whole process.

And jeneliza3 brought up a good point...how do they expect all of us to move in at the same time when they finally get the CofO? When we set our move-in date, my girlfriend had to reserve use of the freight elevator, which could only be reserved in 2-hour time slots. What's going to happen when all of us try and move in on the same day? I'm sure nobody is going to want to wait any longer just because all the freight elevator reservations are booked up.
  • I have a feeling they would move us in by floor since that seems to determine how long each of us have waited. In fact, I doubt anything beyond the 7th floor is even done yet. Part of me wants to believe I'll be drinking a much deserved bottle of fancy wine in my new place by Feb 1, but considering the trend here - I'm highly doubting I'll ever move into Brooklyn Gold because I can't wait beyond that and there's no way they'll have the CofO by then. They STILL have outstanding forms AND fines according to the building's department.
The funny thing, I remember asking the leasing director a long list of questions when we were signing the lease and she put me at ease saying "It's in our best interest to keep our tenants happy so they stay in the building and renew their leases in the future." Now that I've been tricked and bamboozled and extremely inconvenienced - mentally, physically, and financially - I don't even want to live there.
  • This is all true. The move in date , when that does happen will be crazy (from the storage place at 1 Prince street into the actual 277 Gold building).
The temporary Cof O, which I feel they are trying to secure more than the ACTUAL CofO, in order to not let anyones lease reach 90 days w/o execution. The fact of the matter is that we can ALL be left dangling by a wave of temporary after temporary CofO's in oder to keep us from legally voiding the lease and looking for alternate housing. My g/f and I want to start looking for a new place because we MUST leave our current situation. I just don't want to get caught up with 2 signed leases.
And YES....where is the ACTUAL lease we all signed?!
  • As frustrating as this all is, and trust me - I'm frustrated, it may relieve us a little bit to know that that part (the pursuing the TCO instead of the CofO) isn't actually abnormal. The building can't get its full CofO until all construction is complete. It is pretty normal for a new buildings to get TCOs that allow them to occupy the finished units while they continue construction on higher level floors. That part isn't sheisty or trickstery - it really is quite standard.

The part that is frustrating is that there has been some dishonesty from the management company about when this will actually go through and their sympathy for concessions to those who have been displaced have been insufficient. When you're told week after week that the building is "confident" and nothing comes of it, at a certain point their word becomes meaningless, leaving all of us in doubt of when we can reasonably expect to get in there and preventing people who are displaced from making longer-term living arrangements to wait out the delays.

That's the part that's frustrating, but we did all willingly sign a construction rider that said that we know the building is under construction and that there was the chance our move in wouldn't be able to happen on schedule as a result. That rider, (unfortunately) covers the building's ass.
  • I also was given a Nov 30 move in date and have been going back in forth with Lalezarian and attempting to verify the information with department of buildings. It sounds as though some are getting more generous compensation packages than others. I think we should all talk about what would be a fair compensation package and make the demand that we all receive it, or we attempt at a class action. I know very confidentally that we have a case for reasons that I can disclose if we all meet up in person about it. Is anyone interested? If so, please send me a private message and I will try to organize this. Also, I've put in the same call to Brooklyn Housing and Family Services who was all to familiar with the case when I called, as was the Dept of Buildings, who put me on a list to receive a call from the Commissioner. We cannot stand by and be victimized and I for one refuse to let this continue.
  • Tco has apparently been issued. It is about time!! See you guys soon, then we can start our building co op!! Haha
  • I actually would really like to plan to all get toegther once we're all in and discuss what we should do to make sure that we are compensated equally for all of our troubles. Let me know if you guys are interested.
  • Ok, so we all got the same email I'm assuming. I wrote her back that I'm not gonna get my hopes up until she gives the definite confirmation. Monday OR Tuesday of next week? After all that's happened, I just can't trust. But if all goes well (and I really hope it does) I already love all you guys and can't wait to be neighbors!
  • By the way, there are updated to the Required Items list on the Buildings Dept website as of today, therefore I think this is legit:

    http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BScanItemsRequiredServlet?requestid=3&defaultdisplay=y&passjobnumber=302340072&passdocnumber=01&allbin=3000239
  • Can you all confirm when the TCO will be valid and issued? I just looked on the DOB website and nothing has changed...still 22 outstanding items and no TCO posted. I'm due to move in on Sat, Jan 30th and would be interested to know if my move-in date is going to get pushed back.

On a side note, who wants to host the first unpacking party? I'll bring wine!
  • Finally some good news! Hope everything works out for all of us. I'll check this site daily for any updates.

I think we can all use a few drinks when this is over :)
  • we must have all gotten the same email from Lisa...i emailed her back and asked her how they plan to move us all in, but have not heard from her yet...will post when i do.

and i will bring some wine too!!!
  • agreed! i'm happy to know that i already like my neighbors! dont want to be a downer, but is it possible that we will have to move out after 90 days?
  • Wow! What a relief! I don't have time to explain my situation right now; however, like many of you, I am in difficult situation as a result not being albe to move in on the date that I signed my lease for. I have experienced financial, mental and emotional challenges unlike any I have experience in my life! This company has been playing with one of our basic needs---shelter---for too long! I am interested in meeting up also, as I'm not sure just how much more of this I can take!
  • Has anyone with a Feb 1 move in date heard anything about this one way or another? I saw your positive posts at the end of last week, but I myself haven't heard anything yet and I'm technically supposed to move in on the 1st. If that's happening, I need to know it and start packing. What news, exactly, did you guys get last week?

And ps, yes, I love the idea of meeting for drinks once we're all in the new place. It's nice to know your neighbors, and especially cool to get to know them before you even live there!
  • Hi kayzi - I received an email from Lisa last week with the subject line "Good news!" that she would be hearing either Monday or Tuesday of this week whether or not they officially had their Temporary CofO. I am subletting, per Lisa's recommendation, and have no way of moving till this Friday. Until we hear that we can DEFINITELY move in, I wouldn't start packing. Hopefully you'll get to get to move in on the 1st though.

I'm curious, has anyone been offered moving help from storage to Brooklyn Gold? We weren't offered this and would love to have it...but I'm wondering, are they letting you guys hire your own people and they'll reimburse? Or are they hiring their own guys? We don't even have a dolly to move our stuff back and forth and we're probably not allowed to take those carts from storage. What's the plan?
  • I hope there truly is good news for all of us. We're scheduled to move in on Sat and haven't rescheduled the movers, deliveries, or electricity/cable in hopes that there won't be any delays for us and everyone who's been displaced can start moving in this week. We haven't been contacted about any possible delays yet and we're hoping that no news is good news.

If anyone moves in this week, please share that on the board so that we can get excited and celebrate with you!
  • Subject: We hope you get to move in soon!

    Hi Folks-

We at the Loading Dock hope you get to move in soon too! When you're all settled, please stop in for a bite and to meet your neighbors from the surrounding buildings. The area gets better and better with every new resident. Best wishes on the CO,

  • Hey yo! TCO is posted on Dept of Buildings site! http://a810-cofo.nyc.gov/cofo/B/302/340000/302340072-01.PDF

Of course I find this myself before the building notifies us. Can you say I'm a bit obsessed about this?
  • I've been checking the DOB website all day too, haha. This is great news! Is anybody moving in this week? I'm still scheduled to move in this Saturday, so I hope there's not too much of a backlog of people all trying to get in on the same day.
  • i got the same email from lisa that luna1234 got last week. lisa also emailed me today saying that they "should" have the TCO by the end of today and asked what date i would prefer to move my stuff out of storage and into the building. she also said that they are splitting the tenants in storage into several groups to alleviate move-in congestion. i emailed her back asking for a saturday move-in... it's basically the end of the day and no response as of yet... :(

    -apartment less since dec. 1
  • hey...so just got my move-in date of february 1st...i was thinking we should all figure out when a good night for a get together would be once everyone is moved in...maybe the 6th?
  • i'm moving in this saturday evening basically.... can't wait to get in and get settled....and of course, meet all of my neighbors!

i am particularly interested in meeting any fellow cat owners, as i have one, and would love to have someone that would be willing to feed my cat if i happen to go out of town and of course, vice versa. since we are a little off the beaten path, it seems much easier to do internally instead of making friends come over. if interested, push the pm button below and send me a private message.

the 6th is fine with me, jeneliza3
  • hi guys. i would love to get together and meet everyone. I have plans in the evening on the 6th, but could do something on the earlier side. would love to meet up with y'all!
  • Hey guys - I'm moving in this Saturday along with a lot of you. Does anyone know which cable providers work with our building? I'm trying to shop around for a good deal and am unsure where to start the search. Also, I'd love to meet up in the near future to celebrate the move!
  • They have TWC and Verizon in the building. I went with Verizon... I got a good deal and the Internet is much faster.
  • I went with Verizon as well...much better deals than TWC, especially if you only need cable and Internet. TWC had a decent triple play deal for phone, cable, and Inernet if you need all three, but I'm not going to have a landline hooked up in my apt.
  • Great - thanks so much. Just checked out the Verizon deals and it looks like I'm going to go with them as well.
