Are you a Sprint Phone User?
I'm going to be in Manhattan a lot more this year and don't want to trek my laptop/camera with me everywhere, yet I need to be able to send camera-photos/email to my computer or boss. Em loves her Sprint HTC Touch. Anyone else have a fave? or any new phone suggestions? Or where to get a really nice phone cheap?
I'd probably stay with Sprint because it's a family plan.

How about you go for the Samsung Instinct?
You can find it cheap on ebay:

If you're eligible for an upgrade or if your contract is up, you get a discount on a new phone.
Choose a smartphone from the Sprint website.

I would think that if you're upgrading to a smartphone and sticking with Sprint (bad idea), the one bright spot is that you could get the Palm Pre.
-
I've used the Palm Pre since it came out in June '09. I love this phone! I use it for email, messaging, and calls. Also for websurfing, music listening (my own mp3's + Pandora), camera, etc.
-
Also, the Pre Plus (an upgrade in storage and, I believe, a more durable phone) should be out soon. I'm not sure if it's going to be for Sprint or only Verizon, though.
Current Wife has a Pre, and she seems fine with it. I don't find it as fast as an iPhone, but the advantage the Pre holds is running multiple apps at once. -
I love my Blackberry Tour and my wife uses the Palm Pixi (very cute, but no wi-fi). I never have a problem getting service with Sprint. Let them know that you want a "new customer" rate on a phone. I do it every 12 months.
Good luck!!! -

^^ Blah. iphone ain't shit. Get a ipod touch and it's the same damn thing.
My little bro has the Palm pre and he said it was just "ok" at first, but now he likes it a lot.
I've decided to stick with Sprint. I'm hoping they get the Nexus One , like Verizon. If not, I'll wait it out for a phone that I can live with.
I want a Sprint phone with these features:
-Android
-5.0 Digital Camera w/ flash + video recorder
-Expandable storage/memory
-Slide out qwerty
Is that too much to ask for? -
Em, switch to Verizon and get a Droid! It has everything you want, plus way better phone service.
-
:-k
I know the Droid is awesome, but we're keeping our family plan.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll go to Verizon. If I do, it's either the Droid or Nexus One.
I'm in no rush. I do like my HTC touch.
We'll see.
I'm hoping this is true:

I've had a Pre since August - they've finally worked out the kinks, and the phone is awesome, especially as a *communications* device.
Camera's decent (even has a flash), web browser works, google maps & GPS work well. Keyboard's a little small, but you get used to it. Added bonus, when you plug it into your computer it looks like a USB flash drive.
The biggest thing for me is email - I have 5 different email accounts (work, personal, contract clients, etc), and the phone does a terrific job of managing all of them in a really intuitive fashion. I've written multi-page emails on the thing while on the subway, sitting at lunch, etc. Furthermore, it syncs with Google Contacts and Facebook, so I almost never have to enter people's info directly into the phone.
My only complaint - it's not durable. Mine decided to take a flyer off my desk last week, and the fall broke it. On the bright side, the profile backups made it simple to get the replacement phone up and running (literally, just had to enter the passwords to my email accounts again). -

Nothing wrong with Sprint. I've used them for 5+ years and I'm very happy. Their internet speeds are normally way better than ATT or TMobile. No idea about Verizon. -
