  • I also went with Verizon. There are great deals to be had and the speed is crazy fast!
  • Hi my husband and I are moving in on Feb. 1. Looking forward to meeting our new neighbors after this whole ordeal!
  • Subject: Skeptics

So, I said I wouldn't believe it till I see it, and well, I see it. We got our keys this morning and the movers had our belongings in hand. I am at work but my beautiful wife is directing the movers where to put our stuff. The apartment looks great and I can't wait to get settled, (waiting since Dec. 15).

Other good news, the McDonalds has lost their lease across the street. I'm hoping for an Irish Pub. Anyone wanna go in on one with me? haha.

Good luck to the rest of you. Hope we meet in the elevator some time.
  • i've been waiting since dec. 1st..... no keys or confirmed move-in date yet.... hopefully lisa gets back to me today
  • finally got my move-in date for saturday...
  • so much good news i can hardly stand it.

so nice to hear that a move-in actually happened!
very happy to hear no more mcdonalds across the way, eventually. the arches is my bedroom view, so looking forward to that coming down. irish pub would be ideal.

would love to meet all of you, but probably won't be moving in til the 7th, hope there's another chance for meeting you all! keep me posted!
  • Subject: facebook

    hi,

i created a facebook page so we can continue to communicate...just search for 277 gold and join!
  • Very exciting! We are getting our keys this Friday but the movers can only get our stuff out of storage on Saturday. Can't wait!!! Looking forward to meeting any fellow dog owners. I've heard there's an amazing, giant dog park in DUMBO, about a mile walk, conveniently located near the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory:o) But Fort Greene park is much closer and I think they allow off leash during certain times.
  • just moved in today, love my new apartment!! hate to say it, but it was kinda worth the wait. see you all soon!!
  • Hi what kind of deal did you get for Verizon cable & internet? Did you go with FIOS?
    Thanks!
  • Just read that our section of Brooklyn is reffered to as "RAMBO" (Right After the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Anyone else feel cooler after knowing that?

Piercejames: I haven't set up my internet but I see an 84.99/mo (2 year) deal for internet and fios. Did anyone get something better?

Attention Brooklynians! There is a new neighborhood.......called DotComa - Down over the crack of my ass

(and, no, Drunken Revival, you cannot move in  )
  • I got FIOS and I'm super excited about it. The internet is so much faster than crappy Time Warner. Spoke with the folks this week and there were three options:

35mg/sec internet and all premium channels for TV - $110/month
    25mg/sec internet and showtime/flix/moviechannel on TV - $90/month
    15mg/sec internet and 355 channels (75 in HD) - $75/month

There is a deal right now for 6 months free with a DVR box, after which that's an additional $15.99/month.

The same deal allows you to have another cable box for another TV for free for 6 months, after which it's $5.99/month (which is crazy low, compared to the additional box charge at TW)

This was all for a 2-year contract, but still. Those are great deals.
  • Subject: Looking for current feedback on Brooklyn Gold

Would love a current update on Brooklyn Gold from those of you who managed to move in and are living in the building. I'm looking to move with my husband and two year-old and had identified the Brooklyn Gold apartments as a good deal in a decent location - proximity to subway and downtown, but certainly without a neighborhood feel. I'm interested in how the building management has been treating you and how safe you feel in the area, particularly at night.
  • I moved into Bklyn gold in February, I have a 2 bedroom. Im definitely glad with the choice I made. Management is very responsive, and my apartment is great. I shopped other buildings in the area (there are a few new ones) none of them had the same quality finishes as here and the rent was definitely better than the others. Hope this helps!
  • So what kind of actual speeds are folks getting with Fios there?

    Test here:

  • We moved in at the end of January and are happy with the choice we made. The building has a website where you can post notices, alert maintenance, track package deliveries, etc. For the few maintenance requests we've put it, response time has been very short. We walk our dog early in the morning and late at night, and have never felt threatened; however, we know what areas to avoid especially when it's late. Although there isn't quite a neighborhood feel, we know many residents in the building; additionally, DUMBO and Bklyn Heights is within walking distance. On the plus side, there's a decent market 2 blocks down on Tillary/Concord and many delivery options for food (restaurants, Fresh Direct) and dry cleaning. Parking can sometimes be a challenge depending on the time of day, but hasn't been terrilble. For the price and the amenities, Brooklyn Gold is a great choice especially compared to 80 Dekalb, Avalon and Brooklyner. Hope this helps!
  • Hi,

What do the current tenants think of Brooklyn Gold??? I am thinking of moving there and am hoping to get some feedback. Both positive and negative feedback is welcome.

    Thanks!
  • Subject: what's the latest on these apartments?

I am thinking about moving here, I'm not familiar with brooklyn so hoping to hear about the neighborhood also, is it safe to walk around at night? I'm a single girl with a super active life so will probably be out late. How far to the subway? and also are the apartments as great as advertised?
  • We are thinking about moving here as well. Could someone who lives there please update with safety, ammmenities and transportation in the area. Also, any word on the pool and rooftop deck? Thanks so much!
  • Subject: Deja Vu All Over Again

    Hi all,

Looks like the Brooklyn Gold C of O fiasco that happened at 277 Gold back in January is happening at 257 Gold now. My girlfriend signed a lease for September 1 but was told "just in case" to push back to September 12th. She did, but she's now been told to push back "another ten days" because they don't have their Temporary Certificate of Occupancy yet, even though they're "confident they'll have within the next week to ten days." Of course now this throws all plans completely out of whack, movers, storage, etc. She asked about free storage but was flatly denied it, which is a different story than what I see on this forum from January.

I just wanted to post this to find out if anyone else (who perhaps googled Brooklyn Gold) is out there with this same problem? I went to the DOB website but the property profile doesn't even look like it for sure belongs to the right building... the address is listed as "249 Gold St." (with a range of 249-257) rather than 257 Gold.

Anyone else renting at 257 Gold please share your experience!
  • Subject: Ditto on the 257 Brooklyn Gold

Signed a lease in August -- was told that they were only waiting on a gas line to be installed and it "would take a couple weeks." Hopefully it doesn't affect me and would think they would learn from mistakes resulting in irate tenants-to-be. But I find it unbelievable that this is the *third* building? So much for having a business strategy that operates with good faith and fair dealing.
  • Subject: BK Gold Buiding 257

My boyfriend and I signed a lease for an apartment in 257 as well. We work very closely with the leasing director and one of their internal brokers.

The building department of NY is NOTORIOUS for postponing these approvals. We already pushed back our move in date to the 15th. We received an email from the leasing director yesterday saying they are hoping for approval by 9/13. Fingers crossed that this will happen.

In terms of the buildings website, you can't really go by that since it's not up to date and 257 is a new building. Hopefully we'll have approval by Monday.
  • Apparently the extra gas line was put in this week and their appointment with the buildings dept is either this week or Monday.
  • We've now been told their next update from DOB is Monday. They also said they're not going to set a move-in date until they get the CofO. Which is good in terms of not stringing people along, but hard because no one can reserve a move-in time (with the freight elevator.)
  • Subject: no move in date???

how can one execute a lease without a move in date?
I find that very odd. Anyone have any input?
  • I am also in the same boat and hoping that the c of o comes in soon. I was supposed to move in earlier this month which obviously has been delayed. Now I am staying with gracious friends until I can get a firm move in date. Good luck to everybody!
  • If they don't hear from the owners by 6pm today, they'll have word tomorrow at noon. I'm praying to GOD this gets done before the end of the month or I'll be homeless.

I'm starting to get annoyed. :?
  • Subject: Any Updates???

I really want to look into this building to rent, but am obviously freaked about the CO. Do you think its a case of the City being lazy on the approvals or ineptitude of BKG? Either way its pretty silly.

Have you heard anything new as of today? They told me that there's no news. Who told you that they'd find out Monday or Tuesday?
