  • I've used Highlawn for 3 different moves and they're always fast and reasonable.
  • i've used RVS for all my moves and they usually move my whole apartment (bedroom furniture, living room furniture, kitchen stuff, etc) for around $250 flat rate and always do a great job. they accept jobs through citymove.com, but you can also call Ray directly.

  • I've used Wong movers. I loved them. Don't have the number, but I know that there's a thread on them somewhere on Brooklynian.

NOONONONONONOooooooo! I used Moishe's to store some stuff about two years ago, before I moved to Brooklyn. I had a very hard time getting my security deposit back from them. It made me wonder what kind of response I could have expected if I had had a problem, because the central-office staff was not responsive or helpful about this routine matter. I got the run-around for about two months.
  • I've used Movers Not Shakers a few times and am always impressed with their professionalism and how fast the move is.

They are really reasonably priced, based on amount of stuff, not time it takes.

    I highly recommend them.
  • I just used Moishe's to move--literally, the other day. While their infrastructure seems like it needs some serious upgrading, they were very friendly and they moved all of my stuff out of my old apartment and into a new studio in less than two hours and I didn't have to lift a finger. (Admittedly I wasn't moving very much, very far.)

When I say their infrastructure needs upgrading, I mean the quote request submission I sent through their website never elicited a response, so I called directly and got plenty of friendly and useful information. Eventually I received an automatic e-mail response saying I hadn't yet responded to the e-mail I never received in the first place.

The movers also showed up an hour earlier than the expected time slot. Which was nice in the end, but I was barely ready and could have missed them entirely.
