Best route to NJ tomorrow morning rush hour
I have to be in Livingston, NJ tomorrow (Monday) at 11:15am, driving, coming from south slope. It usually takes 35 minutes to an hour depending on time of day, but I've never done it during rush hour. Google Maps tells me 35 without traffic and 70 minutes with traffic but I don't know if I believe it. It's 24-26 miles, depending on which way you go. What's the best way to get from here to the Holland tunnel sometime between 9:30-10:30am:
a) BQE from 13th St to Brooklyn Bridge
b) 4th/5th/6th ave to Flatbush to Tillary to Brooklyn Bridge
c) 4th/5th/6th ave to Flatbush to Manhattan Bridge
And, if you're familiar with the trip to the Livingston/Orange/West Orange area, what time would you recommend I leave to get there? 9:30 is the absolute earliest, but I'm wondering if I could do 9:45 or even just before 10 and be ok, depending on the route.
Any advice is appreciated!

Its not the cheapest way, but the quickest is to take the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. It shaves about 10 minutes off your time.

I'd say even more than 10 mins. The bbt to the holland is definitely your best bet.

agree....BBT is definitely the way to go.

A lot of the traffic will be gone by 9:30. Just check the web cams
http://nyctmc.org/
for the prospect expway/BQE junction and the Sacket St BQE cam. I've sailed over at 10 AM
Do go one block North of Chambers and go accross at Duane st instead. -
Ah, I see now Google Maps was sending me thru BBT the entire time. I will go that way. Will I be able to turn right onto Canal at this hour? Sometimes it's blocked, sometimes it's not, that often can add the most amount of time getting to the HT if Canal is blocked.

Subject: bk to nj
my daughter goes to montclair state u, so we have made this trip many times, at rush hour ( can't you leave a little earlier? go down Prospect Ave and merge onto Hamilton Ave (don't try 9th St- you will take forever to get in), take Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, go up West Side- if you are taking Lincoln Tunnel Make a right on 30th St, go two blocks and make a little diagonal to entrance to Lincoln Tunnel, it will shoot you stratight up to the tunnel. good luck -

^old crowd is totally right - take Prospect Ave to Hamilton as opposed to BQE. You will save a lot of time right there. Getting stuck on the BQE = sucks

Hey, all, I took the BBT, left at 10, there was zero traffic and I was at my destination in 45 minutes which is exactly how long it ought to take. Thanks for the advice!

But you still had to go to New Jersey. Ew.
