which bars are child free?
I forgot which bar got "in trouble" for posting a no stroller sign.I'm not here to get into legalities, or dog vs/stroller vs/toddler debate. We just want to go to a bar that doesn't have kids. If any of them are bold enough to try, we'd like to support them. All of us!!

Double Windsor is no longer allowing anybody under 21 after 5pm. Plus, they just started adding food (limited menu for now, and I haven't tried it yet)

Union Hall was the one that posted the sign. I'm dying to try double windsor! (That being said, I love Park Slope Ale House and 12th St. with my kid, so long as it's before 7:30pm and she's eating.)
I've never seen kids in Brookvin, and it doesn't sound like Dram Shop is terribly kid friendly either. -
Cherry Tree and 4th ave Pub (across the street) very much just a drinking pub

everyone over 21 that is, which happens to be the legal drinking age. -

once i was in a park slope bar and saw a visibly drunk father continuously spill beer all over his kids face who was in a stroller beneath him next to the bar.
needless to say it was awesome/amazing/sad/.
i also like when parents ask you if you can stop smoking because my baby is right here. riiiiiiight. look up, you are at a bar.
how about spending $10/hr for a babysitter if mommy and daddy still want to act cool and hip at the bars and put their happiness before the safety and well-being of their children. -
I agree with you that kids do not belong in bars, but, just wanted to say, that unless you get a teen babysitter (which is hard to do many times), babysitters do not charge $10 an hour for a night out, it's more around $15 an hour.

At the risk of further derailing the thread, I have a suggestion for anyone who, like me, prefers to drink among other adults only...
When someone brings a baby into a bar and it bothers you, quickly finish your drink and just leave. Another bar will be happy to accept your money. If large groups of paying customers leave immediately after a baby comes in, I think the bar owners will see the cause and effect relationship.
I'm glad so many bars are mentioned above, so we can get some "safe" alternatives -
I think it was obvious that this thread would instantly be derailed in to an argument about kids in bars. In my hopes to actually provide the original poster with an answer to his question as opposed to using this thread to vent personal beefs. I shall add more Adult only bars to his list:
Black Sheep ( never seen a kid in there)
O'Conner's (not the times I've been there)

Depends on what type of children you're trying to avoid - many bars are packed with overgrown children of legal age doing all sorts of acting out.
On a similar subject - anyone know of a good bar without blondes? I find they're so annoying - all flicking their hair and yap yap yapping about inane stuff. And what's with the people on phones and using blackberries - if you want to talk on the phone or read email, why don't you just stay home? Don't get me started with TVs in bars - I mean, a bar is for drinking and fighting. If you wanna watch TV, stay the hell home. And last week, I was brooding over my pint when some biddy tried to talk to me - uh, like, I'm here to drink, OK? And what's with all the flirting - did you have this place mistaken for a Plato's Retreat? You and your prosthetic leg belong in a hospital, not a bar!
Protecting kids is paramount. I keep mine locked in the basement. No TV with all those swear words and scandalously dressed harlots, and no school for them either (mingle with all those dubious booger-snarfing varmint and their contumelious instincts?). Released into daylight, kids might see something alarming or subversive, and then what? -

I think if you want to make a statement, you need to actually say something. Many people don't see cause and effect until you beat them over the head with it.

I wd love to stage a mass walk out of a bar when a baby/stroller enters--but then we'd have to abandon our drinks!! -

I have never come across a baby in a bar, but if we could do something about those losers who hang out at a bar with a bluetooth headphone in their ear - that would improve my quality of life.

Man, the anti side of this argument sure do cry a lot. Like babies actually. If you see a baby leave. Take your ball and go home.
Why do some have to foist their vision of how it should be on everyone? What is that in humans? So what if you do not think babies should be in bars? So what if you do? I care more about the people who want to impose beliefs than I do about whether there is a kid in the room. I myself drink in O' Connors, The Gate, Loki. Each place for different appeals. I pack up and get going in the same speed if there is a screaming kid or an overbearing pack of drunks. BUT, it doesn't mean I get up and demand their elimination or worse the end of the place. I go back another day.
Enjoy the uniformity once your agenda(s) are executed.
As a kid who played the pinball machine propped up on a chair while my grandfather had a pint before heading home, I must say that I relish the memories and find this overdone topic of large scale intolerance sad. -
SouthSlopeSuit sounds awesome. Hope to run into them and their kid in the bar some afternoon. People need to lighten up, I bring my dog to the bar, and when I knock up the misses you can be damn certain the kid will be there too.

Sheesh, calm down, everyone. You're all missing the point. Drinking at home, alone, is where it's at: cheap, always open, and you almost never run into a baby (unless you're a parent). Done and done!

I do not mind babies at bars, not that much, as long as it’s earlier hour, not packed and babies are being quiet...after all, people should have a chance to go grab a drink in a social occasion…beers taste better at bars and I can imagine people go crazy being inside with new born baby all the time.
It’s not a bar, but I go to a coffee shop in the morning, and the place is packed with mothers, fathers with babies and toddlers + large strollers, and that is annoying…kids running around, parents chasing them around, while talking very loud to each other about who got sick and what to feed them and stuff....I want to have a coffee and read a newspaper, could they be a bit more considerate?? I am not against parents getting together outside, but they seem so full of themselves! -
