Do we behave in real life the way we do online? — Brooklynian

Do we behave in real life the way we do online?

I did a cursory search of the posts I made here (narcissistic, I know). And I concluded that I act in the street the same way I act on here. I could be wrong: maybe those of you who know me could tell me if that's so (I'm sure you're out there!)

But here's an example: The other day I told a woman that I thought her young, energetic dog needed more than a five minute walk. (I've recently seen her take her dog out not even around the block at least half a dozen times).

It reminded me of what I said on this thread:

So what do you guys think? How do you act similarly or differently online vs. in the real world? With people you know and with people you just talk to in the street/strangers online?

  • Well, one thing's for sure.

In real life it's much harder to embed all the stupid videos I do here.

    But still possible.
  • I'm even cooler and better looking in person.

ahem...you DO remember that many of us have actually met you, right?

Am pretty much the same. Not a lot of filter - for bad and for good. Some people might say I'm actually a tiny bit nicer in person, but they lie like rugs. I'm just sayin'
  • I guess...umm...yeah? I do talk the same way I type.

I think everyone I have met is the same.

No glitter flashing on my face. That ain't my face.

That is not Jeffrey's cat. (It says so on there. Never met him.)

That is Whynot's dog. (met him and he barks at me usually but not always.)

Jeffrey, you forgot to add Sponge Bob to Em's avatar (which is dangerously close to giving me a seizure)
  • Naw Flexi, that's only available in the t-shirt.

    Ernnnn... Um ok.
Some people- like whynot- are actually much less obnoxious and annoying in person.
I think perhaps I may be more obnoxious, annoying and sarcastic in person. At least until I make nice. Then I give an excellent blow job.

um, thanks for sharing Scarlett. You'll have to let me know how many PMs you get as a result of this post.
  • DR's spidey sense tingling in 3-2-1...
  • I certainly do my best to treat people in real life as if their most useful i/o interface was a VT100 terminal emulator.

  • I'm Julius Orange in real lyfe... Who would have guessed?

DR NOTE: This post has been altered because it's none of your business.. and it's not even that cool.

  • My name isn't really Carmen. I am actually the mayor of snark slope, though.
