Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

Hey Joe, Thanks for the great pictures of your Father's Dodger Collection. I sure hope you are preserving it.The sad thing about the 1955 victory was that my Mother was an avid Dodger fan. Her and I would walk through Prospect Park to Ebbets field to see a game. She always went on"Ladies Day".(remember that any of you?Ladies got a ticket I think it was .50 for a reserved seat) She had particular games against certain teams she would not miss. Always went to see the Phillies when Robin Roberts was pitching. Went to see the Cardinals as many times as possible so she could see Stan the Man. But, she ALWAYS rooted for the Dodgers no matter who they were playing. Here comes the sad part. She died October 6,1954 and never saw the "Bums" win the series. Then the creep O'malley took them away. The only autographed ball I had was one by Gil Hodges. Gave it to my oldest son a long time ago. I hope he preserved it but he might have given it to his three boys to play with!!! I remember "Twilight-night Double Headers". We (our family) would get a block of reserved seat tickets behind first base and would all meet after work at Ebbets Field. Great Family night. My Mother would make and bring a whole bag of sandwiches for our supper. What great memories.One last memory. In the Dodger rotunda there was an enormous picture of Leo Durocher and Umpire George Majorkurth screaming in each others faces. I wonder what became of that picture. Did they put it up in Citi Field????

I already wished all you lovely Ladies "Happy Valentines Day" on Friday but it can't hurt to do it again today on the14th. Someone on here said it is important to treat your spouse extra special on Valentines day. Okay, I will only beat Carol 2 times today and not with a stick!!! That would be the day. She would hit me right back!!! :roll: :roll:

To All of you who didnt wake up to Roses and Breakfast in Bed and Chocolate
Hearts ....thats fine ......I didnt either but we woke up and thats a beautiful gift!

Trust me I checked the entire house, under the beds, closets ---> Nada!
LOL.......My Son is somewhere skiing this weekend.....so Im sure I would
have gotten something if he was home!

Freddy .....that was a beautiful thought .....I think I'll put a dozen straws in a
vase of water .......Im sure my kids will have a laugh....LOL

Mike had to sleep and then off to work again... I would have shared my pancakes with u. Sooooo..I may have had the pancakes and flowers but i was by myself. The most precious gif is what u said JUST WAKING UP THIS MORNING IS A GIFT IN ITSELF. THANK U JESUS....

Happy Valentine's Day everyone (men included) Helen...loved the bunny...Terry-loved your pictures...you have great memories...Suzie-thanks..my daughter should be better by Tuesday or Wednesday... Warren-enjoyed your story about Ebbetts Field & and your mom...I remember Prospect Park used to have dances every Friday night . I was very little but my mom used to take me and my brother there in the summertime.. Anyone remember that? It will be busy for me today-grocery shopping & babysitting for my grandson today...but it's true-whether or not we get flowers or candy today, just waking up is a precious gift...have a nice day everyone and enjoy..............talk to u later..

Well I put my treadmill for sale to pay for Nicole's tuition
because of the damn water heater that went....and threw
me off.
I was a little nervous having some guy come over to look
at it......but thank God he was normal (so far) the problem
is he wanted to leave me the money and keep the treadmill
here until he can find a way to get it to his house in a week
or two...maybe! Long story short ...I felt sorry for him ....and
Im gonna have to ask Vinny to deliver it to his house when he
gets home tonight or tomorrow...Im sure he'll be thrilled!

ok....let me go help my son-in-law in the kitchen.....

MY MIA AND HER PARENTS WENT TO WASHINGTON DC BY AMTRACK. I THINK THEY HAD 52 INCHES OF SNOW SO THEY HAD TO GO BY AMTRACK. THEY WENT TO VISIT TRACIE'S SISTER.. MISS THAT BRAT. SPOKE TO MY SON YESTERDAY AND SHE WOULD NOT GET ON THE PHONE AGAIN. EVERY TIME SHE GOES AWAY OR I GO AWAY SHE WILL NOT TALK TO ME.
She said she was too tired and busy to talk. She uses that same line all the time...lol
