HALP! I can't get the shower head off! — Brooklynian

HALP! I can't get the shower head off!

Subject: HALP! I can't get the shower head off!

So, I'm trying to remove the existing shower head and replace it with a new one (queue all of the dirty jokes) and I can't get the existing one off. It's probably been on there for ages.

I bought this wrench specifically because it locks into place and had reviews saying it doesn't strip treading.

http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-85-610-10-Inch-MaxGrip-Adjustable/dp/B00009OYGZ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1266530883&sr=8-6

It's big enough to fit around the old shower head and I can get it to lock by using the wrench dial and the lock, but it DOES strip the tread and I can't get any traction or make the old shower head budge.

Any advice (aside from all of the snarky ones). The existing shower head sucks and I am determined to change it.[/b]

I told you I don't know where to buy a fucking piece of pipe!
  • Can you get any oil in there? A bit of a stretch but maybe wrap a towel dipped in really hot water around it to try to loosen the outer part?

I almost broke the pipe in the wall trying to remove a crappy old shower head once.
  • Ooooh...I did eeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Yay!
  • Whatcha put on there now?

    The Commando 450???

  • I was gonna say, get a pair of vicegrips. Who cares about stripping the old one.
  • what are vicegrips?

I fixed it anyway. The problem with stripping or breaking the old one is that I have to put it back on before I move out one day
