Need to vent about the F train ?
If you are tired of delays, and frequent service disruptions on the F and G lines like I am, why not complain productively by emailing the line manager via the MTAs website ? Here is the link - it only takes a minute.

Additionally, the link below is helpful information from The Straphangers Campaign, which includes advice and addresses for both MTA and government officials.

A large portion of the line is scheduled to be completely shut down for several weekends this year. While we all understand that maintenance is necessary to make any improvements, I am wishfully thinking that pressure from the community might force the city and the MTA to make sure that the work is done *efficiently*, doesn't drag on, and actually results in improved service.
I know some people will say that it won't do any good, and maybe they're right, but it can't hurt.
Ok, thats all, thanks for reading.

Thank you for posting this. I needed some direction to vent too.

I would hate to see the populations served by the F train live off of the G or L for any length of time. The L was down on weekends for basically an entire summer and the G ran in two sections every 30 minutes for weekends for what seemed like 6 months. The F train shuttle buses are usually just as fast for local trips, and the areas which have service loss are served by other trains and many buses. Try living off of the Morgan L stop without subway service for weekends for 3 months (or the Bedford Nostrand G train area where your other train option is 20 minute walk to the C or S train through a number of poorly-lit, dangerous blocks.)

You're right, it could suck much worse.
I just think that since people will complain anyway, why not direct the complaint appropriately so that there is a chance it might have a positive effect ? Additionally, for all we know, F train riders could find themselves in the exact same situation you described if the project takes longer than expected - a likely possibility ! Look, we've all seen MTA token booth workers and cleaning crews sleeping on the job, as well as construction crews standing around talking instead of working. I see a correlation between this behavior and projects taking too long and going over budget.
So, I'm hoping that if enough people speak up it might put enough pressure on the MTA and the city to get their asses in gear, and finish the work in a timely fashion. I rely on this line and feel pretty sure it is deserving of some enhanced service.
In the time it takes to reply to this thread, you can shoot off an email to the MTA voicing any concerns you may have. The link above can also be used for other subway and bus lines, if you are so inclined.
PS - I did, in fact, live off the L for five years. I'm not going through that again ! -
The F train and the G train will be out of service from Church Street to Jay Street the following weekends. There will be bus service. This was posted in the NY Post. a couple of weeks ago They're doing track work

I'm not a shill for the TA but you know reasonably speaking mechanical things have to be fixed. I don't think anyone would be happy if the train was permanently put out of service or if there was a serious accident where a train derailed on the Gowanus overpass. . .
