Rep. Yvette Clarke - Yay or Nay?

It's election year for Ms. Clarke here in Park Slope and the rest of Congressional District 11. I'm curious to know what you think of how she's served so far.

What has been her biggest accomplishments for the community?
Has she failed to deliver on some things?

My one and only experience has been negative. I wrote her an email concerning an issue and neither she nor anyone from her staff every responded. This struck me as unusual, as in the past whenever I've written other politicians, they always responded, even if they didn't do much to help resolve the problem.

I had the same experience. Sent a letter and heard nothing back. Even a standard response would have been better than nothing.

i wasn't nuts about the process of her election (and didn't vote for her in the primary last time), but every time i've looked into her stance on a particular bill i've agreed with it, so i'll vote for her.

please note that i didn't say i agree with everything she's done; i don't know about all of it, so i can't claim that.

i agree, jack, that it's weird that you didn't get a response. that always irks me.

I wrote to her twice in the last year and both times not only got a reply but also an email thanking me for my email and asking me to be patient in waiting for her reply. That being said, both replies contained the following: "I respectfully disagree with your position on this issue." I think that if you don't share her progressive agenda you are pretty much banging your head against the wall.

^i have written to congressmen in the past many times, and that's as good or better than i've ever heard when in disagreement, frankly.

it would be a bit weird if they DID change their stances based on one constituent letter, i suppose, though i have sometimes wished otherwise.

An so what if she's terrible? Do you think anyone in her district will ever vote for a republican?

IME: Going to her for any issue is pointless. She will never lose her seat, so there is absolutely no reason for her to have any type of presence for her constituents.

If you need something from an elected official you are much better off going to Schumers office as they are lightyears better in serving constituents than Rep Clarke.

I can't think of a single thing this woman has done for the community, the state or the country. She seems like a nice enough person, but perhaps she is in over her head?
