-
Ah yes, Uprising. We hardly knew ye. Their chocolate cranberry bread was SO good.
And Cheese on the Park, 9th St. and 7th Ave. where the realtor is now.
For a few months at least Sotto Voce had a tiny bar/lounge on 4th St. - that kind of place is sorely needed somewhere between 7th. Ave. and the park in the Center Slope.
I loved the kids' bookstore near 3rd St. with the fishtank and beanbag seats.
And, wow, I never thought I'd say this, but I do miss the convenience of D'Agostino's. -

Funny...am obsessed with eating things cooked by Brooklynians cooking with stock
but seriously...I know people buy bones for dogs there......I am assuming that bones are bones, but what do I know? -
The Lopez Family Bakery on 5th and I think 7th or 8th Street. Unbelievable bakery, the whole family worked there and they were all so wonderful!

LopezThanks for that! Great old school neighbourhood spot. Miss the dusty flour everywhere, the smell and the sheet cakes they used to make special that didn't cost arms & legs like some other pommes, i mean places now. -

-

I was thinking the same thing........and for a minute was confused if it was the same Lopez Bakery, but it is....... -
Bones and bread! Thank you! I have to check them out.. Along with all these great places I too have left PS and moved to the other side of Flatbush! Next time I am over there I will have to stop by the bakery, My husband goes to the butcher in Windsor Terrace on occasion, now he will have to bring home bones with his steaks!

The Salvation Army on 5th Avenue.
Will the Retail Space on the bottom level of that condo ever have an occupant? -
I miss the video rental place that was at 7th and Union (where the tutoring place is now).
Anyone know when Citibank moved into 7th & President? Because I sort of remember having to schlep all the way to Flatbush to go to Citibank, back in the day. -
No one mentioned the Cornbread Cafe yet? I used to love that place... I liked (and miss) NoNO too, but not as much...
-

Al's Toyland
Regina Bakery on 7th Avenue and its big orange cat Reggie
Believe it or else, the Grecian [Greasy] Corner

The place on 7th Ave between 9 & 10th that sold really great Itailian deli was called Allarita.
Bellamellio was on 7th I think where Yamato is, it was a great appetizing store.
Herzogs had some fabulous salads and cold cuts plus a huge beer selection.
The Coach Inn on 7th was my default place to take visiting Manhattan relatives.
Peggy's Windsor House where the Double Windsor is now, she was 30 years ahead of her time trying to bring fresh seafood and white tablecloths to PPW.
The candy store that was on the corner of 9th and PPW was called Lewnes. In the 70's it still was a functioning lunchionette serving greasy fries and cherry cokes. -
Citibank moved in to the space on President that was formerly a really
shabby Pioneer Supermarket sometime around 1980, give or take a year or two. -
2nd Street Cafe

Especially 2nd Street Cafe version 1.0 - before they pushed the restaurant.
I also miss Vaux - a short-lived try at the high end.
