schools closed but still ASS parking?

Umm, schools are not closed. And, if they are, then I should be VERY concerned as to where my kids are, LOL!!
-
lol, i thought i read that bloomberg let them out early. guess not.
-
I just thought the same thing...my 4 year old wandering the very clean streets of Park Slope....
-
simple... he has to pay for schools... while alternate side parking pays him (figuratively)
-
Yep, we got an ASS ticket today. I really thought it would have been canceled
-
Oh please! :-({|= ASS parking was over long before the snow started to accumulate. Don't be lazy and move your car.
-
of course! i should have thought of that! because there are so many spots available right now!
-
Wow... misinformation on THIS board.... I'm guessing schools in and ASS is out.
Thanks for the f'ing tips BP -
schools are NOT closed. Middle schools had a half day today because of Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Schools Day for parents. Those kids were scheduled to get out early. He DID cancel tonight's Parent/Teacher Conferences, but nothing else.

Schools are not closed?????!!!! I just assumed that they would be given the weather. I kept my kids home today. Fucking Bloomberg.... always trying to screw the little guy!
-
L O L.... you kept your kids home because of a quarter inch of slush on the ground....
Oh boy... that's classic. -

Kind of like assuming that ASS parking would be suspended?
Oh boy... that's classic. -

I really figured that aSS parking was canceled today, so, the car sat. Oh well, would rather have a ticket than my car sitting double parked in this weather and some idiot hitting it causing a shitload more expenses than the stupid ticket. -

Why are you going off on this? Big deal, some of us got tickets, cause, yeah, we assumed ass parking was canceled today due to the snow, no one is griping about it, just commenting -
<---going to make popcorn
-
Hey Flexi, did you get a ticket or send your invisible kid to school today? LOL
-

Nope. My car is good for a whole week and I don't have any kids (none that I know of, but the 80s were all a blur). I'm smart like that -

are you serious? Why would you assume this? you don't have a radio or tv or computer? (oh wait...you must) Also, there was nothing accumulated this morning when going to school.
(this is not directed at you but merely a rant)
As a teacher it drives me nuts when parents keep their kids home for no reason. No wonder NYC scores are so low on the easy city tests. School is IMPORTANT. Your kid will not succeed if they don't actually attend. Please, send your kids to school unless they are really really sick. -

Umm, his post was sarcasm! are you seriously believing what he wrote is true and not the obvious sarcasm/ shot at those of us who assumed there was no ASS parking?
I in no way believe that Jamzer kept his kids home (if he even has any) because he assumed there was no school, it was obviously a shot at those of us who assumed there was no ASS parking.
now you got me defending jamzer! Shit! -
+1 :-)
(doesn't know how anybody really thought Jamzer kept kids home) -
Of my 26 students I had 18 come in. I called the 8 homes of my absent kids - 3 newly disconnected phone lines and 5 responses of "it's cold outside" - it's not far fetched for me at all.
-
^ ok, fair enough, but I read it and immediately thought he was joking and that it was obvious
-
Well I thought he was joking as well.... but what do I know?
-
I was joking. Sorry for the confusion.
Happy Snow Day on Friday! (please check 311 for parking and school information). -

You called yoru students homes? In all my years of parenting, I have never, ever had a teacher call my house when one of my kids was absent. Do you teach at a private school? -
Got the email:
Alternate Side Parking Rules are Suspended on Friday, February 26.
The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) in conjunction with the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) today announced the suspension of Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations Citywide for Friday, February 26 to facilitate snow removal. However, parking meters will remain in effect throughout the City. -

Really? My daughter's school always calls us, if I don't call them first to let them know she isn't coming in. Her school is a charter. -
^i know my public-school-teaching neighbor calls parents a lot. it's a ton of work, but i think it's a good idea.
